I asked my ex-wife once (who I'm still sort-of friends with) to answer me hand-on-heart whether women really cared what car a guy drives, and to my dismay she answered yes! And I thought this was just a media stereotype. How many women can honestly say that it does or doesn't matter to them?
I can also be honest and say that what car a man/women drives does not matter to me at all (unless it's a BMW, in which case I won't let them in!).

I really don't care what a man drives but to be perfectly honest if I get kind of put off when I see a man in a tiny car that's basically "petite". I also don't like to see a man with a dirty car. Most men take pride in keeping their rides clean. A man's car can be a classic or fresh off the lot but how it's cared for is a sign to me on how that man takes care of things in his life. If the car is falling apart, that's a turn off but I'd still talk to the guy to see what's up with that. If a guy praises his car too much, that's a turn off. Men & cars...complicated.

To me, it matters more HOW the man treats/keeps up with his car then what kind he drives. He could be driving the best BMW out there or Porshe, but if its dirty, stains in the inside, windows dont work etc. then it goes to show how he values something thats important in his life(important meaning, he needs transportation to get from A to B). And if he's driving oh, I dont know, like a 1978 Pontiac but its SUPER clean, nice paint job, runs excellent has a/c etc...then that shows me he cares about things that are important to him.

Some woman may say yes, they do care about what type of car a man drives because it shows their worth and taste. But it could also be misleading...what if a man has a new 2007 Cadillac Escalade all pimped out and hes in debt up to his knees and still lives at home with mama?! Theres alot more to it then just wanting a guy based on his car. For those ladies that base men on what they drive, talk about being materialistic and naive.

=)

Sorry, but if a woman is bothered what sort of car a man drives, I'm completely uninterested in her. It makes her shallow, venal and materialistic. I'd rather be alone. I can afford more or less any car I like, but drive a little Corsa. I don't give a toss what peole think. They'll either like me for being me or not.

Jean's answer above is also a good point - if the car is clean, safe and well driven, this is surely more important. Mine is all three, by the way!

I don't care what sort of car a man drives although I do think it is important to a lot of men. I have been out with a guy who thought so much about his cars and presumed that because he drove a hot car all eyes were on him but in reality they were just glancing at his car. His car was stolen and he never had it insured and I swear it was like he lost a family member. I just couldn't understand his feeling towards a car could be so intense.
NO I don't think the average female cares what sort of car a man drives so long as it is safe and he is a good driver.

It is tough to say.
A woman will be excited if you drive something really cool, and be happy about it, but they don't necesarily shy away from a guy who drives an old Toyota Corolla if he is a good guy.

So basically: yes, it does MATTER to most women, but it isn't all that IMPORTANT to them. It is just another cool thing that the guy has that is fun to enjoy with him, like a guitar, or a sound system, or a big TV. None of those things are deciding factors, but they are cool if you have them.

I don't play the "label" game. To me, as long as the vehicle is clean and in good running order, that is all that matters. I'd rather have a guy who knows how to save or spend his money wisely, than on flashy things (cars included) he believes will impress others. If you don't have the personality, charm, style or whatever to catch someones eye - your car isn't what needs changing. I'd rather have a sweet, funny guy driving an old beater than a jerk in a high $$ set of wheels

personally what car a man drives does not matter nad certainly doesn't influence whether im interested in him or not. there is a lot of stereotypical people about which is a shame i know some of my female friends think they can tell a lot about a man by what car he drives as well as other things but i think its a lot of crap to be honest. mind you some men think the same but i think thats down to an ego thing you know what they say if a man has an issue with what car he drives nad the size of his motor it indicates underlying issues nad complexes of another nature!!

To be honest i know nothing about cars I can't even drive
so to me a car is pretty much a car.
I would actually be put off if a car had a really expensive nouveau riche car its pretty tacky.
They should have more interesting things to spend their money on.

I think women only care about the type of car a guy drives if they feel that they may be a passenger in or driver of it.From this you might speculate that women who travel in your car [ Non Relative] must find the guy somewhat attractive.
