I do not think I would totally agree with that because for several of the years in those first two decades a person is not fully conscious of life at all. I would suggest that the last twenty are because you do not know when the last year will be.This will, depending on the nature of the individual ,leave them in a state of thinking there is plenty of time left. The constant cry of the child is "I can't wait....." whether for a birthday Christmas or whatever. They hurry time forward.Later on we are inclined to drag it out ,put things off and so make time seem longer. A very interesting question

I certainly have many more memories from the time I was under 20 that the last 31 and at that age you never really think of dying so it seems life will last forever.

Now as I get older and my parents and a lot of friends have passed away life seems to go by faster because I know it will not last forever and I have to think of things like what will happen to my grandkids when I am gone.

Gosh, I would love to be twenty all over again.

Well if your going to live to be 40 then, yes, the first 20 are the longest. Of course, you won't remember the first couple three four years (depending on your memory capacity) due to your young age and underdeveloped brain and memory.

But, I have found that as I get older, the years begin to speed up and pass more quickly. Of course, if your planning on living past 40, then the first 20 won't be the first half. (and considering the average age is dozens of years past 40.... you most likely will)

Have a good first 20 years, and another good 20 after that.

well the way you perceive time is definately longer when your younger- so in that way those 20 years seem much longer than the 20 that follow. like how waiting 5 minutes to a 5 year old is much less reasonable than to an adult because 5 minutes is a larger percentage of a small child's life. ie 1 day of a 1 day old baby is 100% of it's life at 24 1 day is 1/8943 of my life.

Yes they definatly are there where you seem to gain you sence of direction in life, learn from your mistakes and so on...which don't really make sence either because the older you get the time still the same amount of days, months etc...
