now cant run PC,windows loads in,but It is running a prog 'explorer.exe' at 100% of processor,have shut this down in tsk manager,but all icons and toolbar dissapear.need to format in dos,but dont think XP has the option like 98.Help!

Explorer.exe is the process name of the Windows explorer(My computer, Desktop, etc). it seems, eventhough the Error checker in uninstalled a component with have been attached to explorer.exe process have not been removed properly. for example, a context menu of my computer icons(right click menu item). or something similar.
there is a process of identifying and removing those by editing windows registry(but so difficalt, so bother to do that)
There is a free software call "ShellExViewer". download if from http://www.nirsoft.net/ and check it you can identify any components of Error checker. if you find any, disable or remove those items.

Look make sure this "error checker" is uninstalled properly. Then go to a day when this program was not installed and run a restore. This should take care of this.
