Don't get any toys that are soft rubber your shih tzu will tear through it, puppy teeth are very sharp.
Don't get your puppy any toy resembling anything in your house you don't want him destroying later, like a shoe, or a foot, or a doll.
The best teether toy I got our poodle Snowball was a Kong chew toy shaped like a tube with grooves on the outside, you spread a special tube of doggy food paste in liver, peanut butter or lamb (he loved lamb) through the hole and on the grooves. It's called a Puppy Kong Teething Stick. (the last website below). The paste you put in it and around it is called Kong Stuff'n liver paste, Kong Stuff'n Peanut Butter paster etc.

If you get a kong, get a small one, a 4 month old shih tzu may have trouble with it. Nylabones are great, also a ball, why not get a stuffed toy with a squeaky of some kind in it - that's' what my dogs love to play with - between the 3 of them they have about 11 stuffed toys.

Kongs and Nylabones are the best...pretty much indestructible and dogs love em. I also like Dr. Noy's stuffed toys by Kong. As far as cloth toys go, these are the most durable I've found. You can even take the squeaker out and throw them in the washer. Just make sure to check new toys for signs of damage every five to ten minutes when you first give them to your dog, then daily for a week or two.

You can get a toy at Petsmart called KONG. Its the one I have heard that most recommended. Its the kind that they cant destroy. You can also buy cheese or peanut butter flavored filling to squirt inside it and they seem to stay entertained for hours trying to get all of it out. Good luck with the puppy!!!

I give my dogs nothing but Nyla bone Durable. It is the safest and will not break off in large chunks and get swallowed as will the raw hides pig ears and the like

Kongs! They come in all different sizes and levels of durability! Plus, they have a hole in the middle of them that you can put things like p-nut butter and biscuits in! Dogs love them!

Hi, I found that a little ball with a bell in the ball, in one of your old sock works perfect. And it is cheap.

Mine have a gorila that everytime it gets tossed it start his gorilla call for 20 sec's. My shepherds love it.
