The kind I have is Twinings. I guess it must be true that people percieve tastes differently, because I can't imagine who would drink that stuff willingly and I love tea.

Earl Grey tea is flavored with oil of bergamot, which is a citrus-based. Perhaps that is what you are referring to, as people quite often flavors in different ways.

I personally love Earl Grey tea! As does Jean Luc Picarad! And I've never found it to have a peppery taste. Oh well, to each their own. Thankfully there are tons of different teas on the market.

I drink earl grey every day and have never had a pepper taste in my tea. What brand are you using? I drink the "Sir Thomas Lipton" brand and find it quite delicious!

It does not taste like pepper to me. I mostly drink Twinings. Maybe the brand you have is bad, like Celestial Seasonings.. that one is horrible.
