Probably the most interesting question I've seen arouind these parts.

I have a feeling that humanity would show its ugly side and we would have done to this neatherthal species the same as technologically advanced cultures tended to do to those less advanced ones, or as the Apes did to the Humans!

If the two were equal, say in the new world were a different species but with similar technological advancements, I'd think there would have been a war of extermination. I think I could go on for ages with this one, but I'll content myself for waiting for the movie to come out!

Considering human nature, the coexistence wouldn't last long. The species would probably compete for resources and one would eventually become dominant, possibly enslaving or exterminating the other. An exception to this might be a sybiotic situation required for mutual survival. In any event, I expect one would try to gain the upper hand in some way -- such is survival of the fittest (and craftiest).

This different "technologically in a position" species might could be lots friendlier than we are, in accordance with our background with animals. Then, we would attempt to enslave, very own, or annihilate them looking on our temper. We get alongside with countless domesticated pets, and clever creatures like monkeys and dolphins, purely because of the fact they do no longer turn the tables on us. in the event that they threaten us or get out of line, we kill them. We do the comparable with any animal, whilst quickly as we want them for foodstuff, clothing, transportation, or leisure. Whales have properly progressed brains, yet their massive length and resemblance to mythical sea monsters, to no longer point out the cost of their flesh, brought about us to seek them almost to extinction. think of what might have occurred if that they had possessed the technologies to rather threaten us. go decrease back a century or 2 - heck, even a million/2 a century - and you will possibly discover an physique of ideas in direction of blacks that brought about slavery and later, to exclusion, based on the opinion they weren't as fantastically progressed because of the fact the dominant custom. thinking the scientists, writers, and statesmen between the black race on the time, that's undemanding to ascertain how a representative pattern of recent humanity might manage yet another race (no longer to point a species) with the comparable innate features. while it includes a thoroughly distinctive branch on the evolutionary tree, i think of that some day greater desirable than one clever and in a position animal could possibly coexist peacefully on earth, yet no longer if humanity (as all of us comprehend it) is taken under consideration one of them.

My theory is that the world would be much the same, with that group clinging together on one part of the planet, but with lots of intermingling. There would be plenty of people who would treat the other species as individuals worthy of the same respect that they'd like to be shown themselves, and there would be plenty of people who talked slowly and loudly at them. There would be lots of talk of equal rights and there would be many reports about how there were a larger percentage of them in prison.

But they better not tek ma joerb!!!
