When I was ten years old, my younger brother Pete contracted chronic athlete´s foot.

Athlete’s foot and nail fungus cause discomfort to millions of people worldwide each year. Yet it is a treatable disease that—in time—is beatable. Moist skin between your toes is an ideal place for the fungus to grow. The skin many become itchy and red. And then the infection can spread to the toenails causing an unpleasant odor. The fungus can also spread to the airpits, anus, genitals, eyes and liver, and to household pets.

It is time that we realised that this infection which thrives in most environments including toilet seats, has caused harm worth untold billions to shoes and socks, can be cured with sufficient tubes of anti fungal cream and better foot hygiene.

What can we do to focus & mobilize our governments to make athlete´s foot and toe fungus can be a fear of the past?

Why is it that the ultra wealthy always find "a cause" and then preach at all the working people about what more they (the working people) can do? I know it's good PR, but I think it's time certain wealthy private citizens put their money where their mouth is. I do not know how you are in regard to this, so this is in no way a judgment on you. However, there are many people in similar situations as you, with wealth and influence, who merely think that "giving their endorsement" to a cause is enough. Well, I have heard that the nut inside of the pit of a peach contains special ingredients that will actually attack cancer cells in the body. It could be that the reason why cancer is such an epidemic is that few people know there is something edible inside the peach pit. Most people see the peach pit and throw it away. I also know that there has been some research on the effect vitamin B12 has on cancer. There is a book titled, "World Without Cancer" by G. Edward Griffin which addresses this specific issue in greater detail. I have not read the book myself but am very interested in doing so. So, how do we make the cure for cancer a global priority? I think the answer to that question is to better inform all nations about how nutrition and vitamins effect the body.

A global priority??????? You have got to be kidding. In this world that is riddled with diseases that take human lives, I think athletes foot is the lowest on the totem pole. Think about the babies that are born every day with aids, cancer, birth defects. Think about your neighbors, your friends and your family that will be diagnosed with a deadly disease. I am aware that athletes foot is uncomfortable, BUT, it is not a deadly or even a debilitating disease. It is very curable and even preventable. Lets focus the government attention on the cancers, the diabetes, the aids and other deadly diseases. You want to get rid of toe fungus? tell people to wash their feet, including between their toes, tell them to change their socks more than once a week. You are so head up on prioritizing something, prioritize this question!! I think you know where I'll put it.

Fortunately I can recall no one actually dying from athlete's foot or of its northern neighbor, jock itch. I think that finding a cure for AIDS, SARS, Pandemic Flu, Cancer, smoking cessation, which does result in premature death, should be our governments focus.
