No. And Abscessed tooth is an infected tooth that causes pain. It is not pain itself. you will need to take medication to bring the infection down and then have a dentist remove the tooth.

Or, you can go to an oral surgeon who can remove it quicker. (this happened in my case, took antibiotics for a couple days and then got an appointment for an oral surgeon to pull the tooth)

The throbbing pain will occur in the area where the tooth is abcessed so it can be in a place other than the upper jaw but that is a good description of the ouch associated with an abcessed tooth.

Yes. If you have an unprovoked dull ache to the tooth that just will not go away, or if you eat on it or something hot or cold touches it and the pain lingers for several minutes, then you have a definite infection of the nerve and pulp of the tooth. The dentist will put you on antibiotics and you will need a root canal to get out of pain. Antibiotics and pain medication is just a temporary fix.
If you procrastinate going to the dentist, the infection will blow up and make you very sick.

It could be an abscessed tooth; I had similar symptoms off and on for a month and ignored them....big mistake, because eventually the pain was constant and excruciating and I made an emergency trip to the dentist. My root canal is next week. Welcome to the over 30 club. Go to the dentist and good luck!

I have trouble with my wisdom teeth sometimes and they were hurting so bad that I couldn't open my mouth so I went to the dentist and they didn't give me anything they just told me that when I brush my teeth to brush back there. It hurts to do but it works within a few days my mouth wasn't sore anymore. I brush my teeth all the time but I guess I just wasn't getting that spot good enough. You should try brushing the area where it hurts really good. It works.

It could be absolutly, but it could also be a cavity or a cracked tooth..it's hard to tell without looking at it. until you can get to a dentist...warm salt water rinses every 20 min or so..listerine..brush..and floss...try advil or something like it for pain...you may need some antibiotics.

It's possible. It's also possible that it's your wisdom teeth-- my ex boyfriend had horrible throbbing until he got his wisdom teeth removed.
