Just curious as to how many Christians are praying for their future husband/wife. If you've already prayed and are now happily married, I'd like to know that too! Thanks:)

I prayed for my future spouse often as a child. When I entered college, I got caught up in a more sinful life and I forgot to pray about my future spouse. When I broke up from an undesireable relationship, I began praying again--and fervently, I may add. I then dated a pretty devout Christian, but I continued to pray for my future spouse not knowing if it was him or not. It wasn't. The day after I broke up with him, I meet my future husband.
I had always been told I set my standards too high. My family and friends--especially women--told me that men like I described didn't exist. But I had made a list of things that were important to me--things that I felt my future spouse must have (like honesty) and things it would be nice to have (like if he liked to play card games--I really like card games). And I handed it all over to God. I came to understand that if I didn't find this man that I described on paper that it would be okay. I would be happy with whatever God willed in my life.
Little did I know that God DID will me to be married, and not only did my husband meet every point on the list I had prayed about, but he exceeded even my high expectations. When you give to God and pray to Him and honor Him, He gives back one-hundred fold. When you promise to honor His commandments--especially with regards to sex and dating--He honors you. I feel so blessed and so happy with my husband. I had truly come to feel that men like that no longer existed, but I was wrong. I thank God everyday for my husband--he is such a wonderful reflection and reminder of God's love for me.
It's true I waited longer than other women in my family. It's true I suffered more heart breaks than other women in my family. But now these other women tell me that I was right all along and that they wish they had waited and prayed like I did. Hang in there! God loves you and has a plan for you, too! Keep your future spouse in your prayers!!!

I started praying for my future spouse when I was 13 years old, after a True Love Waits retreat with my youth group girls. I'm not married yet, but still praying, and trust God is working in his life to make him the husband that will love me as Christ loves the church. Right now I am dating an icredible guy that fits every Godly standard I set when I was 13. He's even a virgin still! Not sure if he is the man I am going to marry yet or not, but through the relationship I've seen that obviously there's been someone out there (maybe me) praying for him, because of God's hand on his life. He'll make an incredible husband and spiritual leader to some lucky wife one day. Pray for your future spouse every day (as well as yourself) and you'll have a great marriage somday.
