The differences between the major Protestant Denominations and their local churches is how they are organized and how they worship.

Presbyterians are derived from the Scottish followers of John Calvin from the reformation. They are organized to be self sufficient and select their own ministers.

Methodists are derived from the followers of John Wesley who was a member of the Church of England (like the Episcopal Denomination in the U.S.) Methodists have their own method of organization and are part of a linked society where a Bishop appoints a pastor to a local church.

Baptists are a break off of the Puritans of England who formed in the Netherlands. They believe in adult baptism by full immersion in the water. They can be very independent and select their own pastors.

Worship in any of these churches can vary from tent meetings to candles on a high alter to bongos and guitars in the local churches. Find one that seems to be friendly and don't worry too much about the denominational beliefs. No one else does.

as others have said they are just a denomination of Protestant... however just because one is not roman catholic dose not mean they are Protestant... Protestants split from the Roman and then some even split again to a third which actualy the Presbyterians did... But there are those who are not Protestant or Roman... A True Baptist is not Protestant... though the World now is concidering all non-roman to be protestant... there have always been those who did not bow to the roman way... the RCs are not the first church though they did try to domninate the religion market..but in fact the roman "church" is not even of The True Christian Faith.

Presbyterians are protestants. Most Christian denominations (Methodists, Baptists, Presbyterians, Lutherans) are referred to as protestants because at some point they broke away (protested) from the original Christian church, which is now referred to as the Catholic church.

Protestant just means a church that doesn't acknowledge the episcopacy of the Catholic church, so that could be Presbyterian, Baptist, Methodist, etc...

Presbyterian is just a denomination of christianity.
