They make their own destiny based on their life circumstances. We can't make any ol' destiny we want it's all dictated by what we experience. We are what we experience.

Our destiny's that we make only go as far as what we know and have learned through life experience.

The less we know, the less choices we can make with our destiny's. The more we know, the more opportunies we have with it.

Yes. even though destiny is by definition a synonym for fate.
we choose our own path in life and with every choice we make there are consiquences. Believers and Non-believers know this as it has been proven by cause and effect.

As you question was not refering to a certain religion, the answer must be in a general manner as to respect the beliefs of all of us here. so, the short answer is yes, we are resonsible for our own actions, thus creating our own destiny.

Which by the way is exactly how I would have responded even if the question were directed at a particular religion.

I believe that the idea of destiny depends on your circumstances. Not too long ago, the vast majority of human beings born were stuck in their social classes, roles, jobs, economic level etc. It's a very new thing the whole freedom, pursuit of happiness, in that for a great many people in the western world have choices, and the ability to change or alter their social standing, or express themselves without being killed. I think for those people, fate or destiny, basically meaning the circumstances that effect or limit your choices, is less than for a person say born in India to a prostitute. I recognize the desire withing humans for their lives to mean something more, but that doesn't mean it does. Wishing something doesn't make it true. Perhaps we got too smart for our imperfection and meaningless. We're trying to organize sand.

no ... this is how my english teacher explained it ...

think of destiny as a box.. a person can do anything within that box but they cannot cross the boundries of that box...a good example is from the odyssey.. in the epic poem odysseus is fated/destined by the Gods to return home to Ithica in a specific number of years ( it was 20).. no matter how hard he tries( and even if he knows his destiny) he cannot come home in 19 years and will not return home in 21 .. he has to come back in 20 years .. because its his destiny. The rest of his life he can do w/e he wants .... as long as it doesn't go against his destiny.. which in his case happens to be the time in which he returns home.

so to answer your own question simply .. no u cant change or create or destroy ur destiny ... but theres a lot u can do within it.

hope i helped!

I don't believe in destiny , fate or coincidences our lives are mapped out before we are born. We do have free will and can choose to make as many mistakes as we wish. Just remember the consequences.in making the wrong choices..

Destiny, is it fact or fiction? Do we believe that we are completely free to do what ever we want and that we alone create our destiny, or are we fated to follow some decided path and no matter what we do we are predestined to live out our life according to someone's plan? Now maybe the bigger question is how do we justify which way is right and which is wrong. I believe that each person develops their own opinion through personal encounters and experiences, and the only correct path is the one that the person believes in and lets that person live their life to its fullest.

The people who truly believe in the whole concept of fate are the ones who have it easy. They can look at any situation and say that the outcome, whatever it may be, is because of fate and was meant to be. These are the people who can go skydiving with no fear because they believe that if it is their fate to live, great, if it's their fate to die, well hell it was meant to be. They take the responsibility of their life out of their own hands and put it into the hands of a mystic force called fate. Now that is one hell of a concept. Personally, if I 'm going to do something crazy and stupid, I will be sure all the proper precautions are taken and not count on fate to handle all the details.

Then there are the people who believe that their life is completely in their hands and they themselves mold their destiny through their choices and actions. To me this opinion requires way too much worrying and stress on their part if they truly practice it in their daily lives. But it also provides a sense of freedom and independence to do with your life as you please and live your life how you want it. To me, these types of people generally don't take as many risks as the others because they are worried about the consequences that might damage the life they have created. It is like when you build a pyramid out of playing cards. You pick out the best looking cards, the strong and secure ones, and are always ever so careful placing each pair on so that you don't knock down the entire thing. A life like that is what heart attacks and ulcers feed on. I just think that life is too short to worry about all of life's little things.

Now what I believe in is a little different. I believe in fate very much so, but also in living our life freely to make our own decisions to mold our life. I conceive fate not as some imaginary mystic force, but a very alive power in all our lives, God. I don't want to sound preachy and I don't think God decides everything, but I do believe that certain things happen for a reason. I sense that we are free to live out our lives how we see fit and that we help to shape our destiny through our actions and our experiences, but I strongly believe in another force out there intervening from time to time and makes things happen for whatever reason. This is where the concept of fate comes in.

Whether you live your life throwing caution to the wind or like a house of cards, you should simply live your life out to its fullest and not take either belief to an extreme. There is a healthy median out there, so find it, live it, and love it. Live out live however you see fit and govern your actions accordingly, because after all it is your life and you only got one.

Yes, to an extent. There are things that remain beyond our control, but in large part, you determine the course your life will take by your own actions and decisions.
