Leviticus and its apparent condemnation is from the Jewish bible. So what do Jews say about homosexuality?
Interestingly, neither the Torah nor the rabbinic tradition has much to say concerning lesbian relationships. It is the male's "spilling of seed" anywhere other than in the usual "place" that is seen as a sin.
Many Jewish scholars believe that the traditional laws against homosexuality originated in a more ritual context, since, for the most part, the word "ABOMINATION" was applied MORE IN THE RITUAL SPHERE OF LIFE than the ETHICAL.
The Torah seems to see homosexual relations in a cultic context rather than something more parallel to the interpersonal context of heterosexual relationships.
Although the sin of Sodom and Gemmorah was apparently homosexuality, later Jewish tradition, including the Biblical prophets, makes no reference to homosexuality and see the sins of Sodom and Gemmorah as cruelty and lack of hospitality to the "stranger" - xenophobia, as it were.
Reform Judaism, for the most part, views the traditional prohibitions against homosexuality as mores from a bygone age, mores now replaced with clearer understandings of the reality of gender orientation as something which is beyond simple individual "preference."
As a whole, the Reform Movement, both the "lay people" and the rabbis have come out very strongly in favor of civil rights for gays and lesbians.
Most Christians, on the other hand, are blindly and deafly homophobic, mostly because Paul was a morbidly unhappy homosexual. http://www.beliefnet.com/story/142/story_14299_1.html

I agree with texasgirl's answer the best. Of course gay people can believe in God. Anyone can believe whatever they want. The actual teachings or particular faiths is where you may have conflict though. Since most God fearing religions consider homosexuality a sin, an abomination, etc. Many gay people that grow up in religious homes often have conflicts within themself later in life when they have the ability to start contemplating the contradictions of religion and being gay. It's abundantly common in the gay community among those from religious backgrounds. If you believe there is a god, that is your given right to believe so, no matter what people say. Being a member of a particular faith is a different story, on the other hand. Many religions will not accept or recognize you as a member. This can vary, though, from location to location, church to church, etc. Generally speaking though, being gay is seen as a really bad thing, from relgions' point of view.

Would you want to believe in a God that doesn't believe in you? I'm only asking because the Bible supposedly states (says all the hardcore Christians) that God says homosexuality is an unforgiveable sin. So, why would a homosexual want to believe in a God that isn't going to be forgiving or allow them into heaven if one exists. Better yet, if God does forgive them, then why does the Bible lie to us?

yes.
being a devout christian, i cannot sit in my desk and say that homosexuality is not wrong. For many reasons i believe it is wrong, but that is a personal belief. I do believe God teaches against it as well. Yet what people do not realize is the act of homosexuality is the sin, not being attracted to the same sex. Plus in God's eyes one sin is no bigger than another. So you can still worship Jesus on Sunday as a homosexual as well as the rest of the sinners sitting next to you in the pew
email me if you need to talk more about this

There are plenty of homosexual people who have turned to Jesus and still struggle with the desire despite being mature christians.
The problem is not that now you have turned to a sexual orientation that is against what god wants for you... the problem is if you encourage the fantasies in your mind and if you act out on them. But simply being a homosexual is like being a gambler or whatever... just another sin that you have to give to God and let him carry you through it :)

My answer isn't quite in line with your question. Yes, I do believe a homosexual can "believe" in God...but.....in my opinion, I think it would be impossible to be a born again Christian and continue in a homosexual "lifestyle". Being born again means the spirit of God lives in you. That spirit guides us, comforts us, and convicts us of sin. According the bible, homosexuality is a sin. Therefore, a born again Christian would be convicted by God's spirit if they continued in their sin.
That being said, there are many churches that don't tell people the truth. Rather, they tell people what they want to hear and say, oh yes, you can believe in God and be homosexual.
I don't not wish to be unkind of uncompassionate...but I think God will deal very severely with churches that lie about His word and lead people astray.

Yes, you can be a homosexual and still believe in God. Being a homosexual doesn't mean you don't believe in God. Its just means that you have made some different choices in your life. God still loves you as he does everyone else. After all he created you.

Beliefs are as individual as people, they are inherently our own and no one can decide what we can and can't believe. Can a person be black and still believe in God? Of course. One thing does not have anything to do with the other. God loves us all equally; that's my belief :)

No matter what, I believe you can believe in God. I am a christian too, and there are several homosexuals in my church. In fact, don't be ashamed, be proud. There are few people out there that worship god and also have the courage to be christians.
God, if (and I believe he does) he exists, will always accept you.
