I have come across a photo of Guy gibson and Douglas Bader together it is in black and white and they are both at an airforce base there is a sprinkiling of snow on the ground and both are in their flying uniforms can anyone tell me what the conection is and why or how could they have met up as they were both in diferent fields of air warfare Guy bombers Douglas Fighters the

there were a number of airbases in the war which had bombers as well as fighters based within certain units, the reason for this was the fighters quite often went on the same sorties to protect the bombers, also douglas bader was a c.o at a couple of airbases both fighter and bomber, one was r.a.f coltishall in norfolk and he always had a spitfire or hurricane with him wherever he went, he could have even been visiting another airbase, also a number of airbases were "shot up " and fighters had to land at bomber bases, i hope this helps

Did guy fly spits with Bader before bombers.?
