You should have one by now, at least on order.
Dresses can take a long time to get to the stores if they aren't in stock there. You will also need at least 2 fittings in the dress to insure the alterations are correct for your body.
Try on line searches for dress styles and ideas. Then you should either order with rush delivery, or find stores in your area that carry that label.

You should have been working on this by now!
Four approaches:
1) What is your ideal dress? Design or describe it, and hire a tailor or seamstress right now to sew it for you!
2) What would you not mind wearing? Go to David's Bridal or another discount place and shop around. You might even have a bridesmaid's dress or another evening gown or semi-formal done up in white or ivory. It will be simpler and less expensive.
3) Is there a wacky idea for a dress or other wedding garb that you've been afraid to wear, and that's what's blocking you from choosing a dress? Think of Salma Hayek in Frida or Molly Ringwald in that wedding movie with Alan Alda (Betsy's Wedding, I think).
4) Throw on any old white or ivory dress and have at it already!
Remember: ultimately it's not about the dress. It's about you and your man.

The sooner the better. Especially if you buy a dress that's not in stock and has to be ordered. Then you have to worry about how long it takes to ship. If your dress needs alterations, that might take a minute. Those kinds of things you might want to consider. Hopefully, you can find a perfect one for you already in stock, and if you need alterations, PLEASE take to a reputable cleaners in your neighborhood. I took my bridesmaids dresses to my cleaners when I was married before, and they charged $7-$8 for each dress, where the bridal shop wanted to charge $50-$75 per dress. Hope this helps. Congrats & Good Luck!

I would recommend now...
Some dresses take 6-9 months to come in so you already know that those designs are out of the question. Are you in the US? If so, have you visited a David's Bridal? They have quite a few dresses that are quick-ship so you can get them very quickly and in time for your wedding. www.DavidsBridal.com is their site and I am pretty sure they tell you which dresses are available for quick delivery.
Good luck! Dress shopping is scaring me!!!!

as quickly as possible. You will need to find a ready-made dress as there now won't be enought time to have one made to measure. In the UK, Berkertex Brides have some great dresses that don't cost a fortune, or try Monsoon - they have some lovely wedding dresses starting at around £200.
Good luck!

you need to decide on something right now. Alterations can take several weeks.
Why can't you find a dress? What's holding you back?
Go to a smaller store where you can get undivided attention and try on dresses that are unlike what you think you will look good in. You may be seeing something in your head that isn't going to work in reality. Oh and take your mom and your future mother in law. They will know when its the right dress.

You should get your dress as soon as possible. Hopefully, you can find something off-the-rack because there's not much time to wait for a dress to be ordered in time for November. Good luck finding a dress that you love!

You should find a dress and order it immediately. Just went gown shopping and found out it takes about 3 months for a dress to come in.
