I just had it this weekend. It's delicious because of the gooey warm cheese. I guess you'd have to be a cheese lover. But they gave us more than bread....we had potatoes, carrots, and weirdly mini gerkin pickles...that one I didn't understand. But I wanted to lick the cheese out of the bowl after everything was eaten. But you can have fondue with chocolate too! Strawberries, pineapple, apple slices dipped in warm gooey chocolate. Doesn't that sound delicious too?!

Apparently, it was a big food craze in the 70's. Fondue kits were selling like wildfire. Recently, there has been a comeback to the fondue craze. I have seen different variations of fondue (chocolate, gravy (for meat), etc.) I imagine it would make a great way to entertain some guests if you're having a shindig at your house. Something about dipping a stick into some sauce in a pot gets people excited. I didn't mean to sound sarcastic or funny. It's simply true. Maybe because it's different than having a barbecue or a regular dinner party.

Fondue is not just bread sipped in cheese. It is fruit dipped in chocolate, Filet mignon or shrimp or scallops fried at the table and dipped in many different sauces. Check out fondue and you will see the many different types you can do. Where I live there is a restaurant called the Melting Pot and all they do is fondue...very successful

It's good stuff! The cheese is usually mixed with wine, and you can dip bread or vegetables in it. There's also a chocolate fondue recipe that you dip strawberries in that would be good too. Try it, you'll like it!

It's just fun for a themed party for me. There is a restaurant chain called "the melting pot" that is a fondue place - the whole meal is fondu. It's fun and not ordinary - something different for every once in awhile.

There are different types of fondue: Chinese and Bourgignon also. It has a lot to do with sauces and side dishes. It's a great meal to relax and to converse with others (with a date or a theme party for example) since it can be long. With a good bottle of wine....excellent!

I think it is more about the conversations with friends than the food! I mean seriously...it takes forever to cook the meat...and cheese and bread is not a meal! :P
