Judeo-Christian tradition has taught for thousands of years:
1. Single people should be celibate.
2. Married people should be faithful to each other (adultery is wrong).

The Catholic Church recognizes the power of sex when it teaches, "Sexuality affects all aspects of the human person in the unity of his body and soul."

Chastity means the successful integration of sexuality within the person. A chaste person's body and spirit lives in unity and opposes any behavior that would impair that unity.

Masturbation is contrary to the human dignity of the person and anyone about whom the person has lustful thoughts, and the dignity of human sexuality.

All religions are full of sinners. There are almost no perfect people. Mr. Smith is just very honest about his sins.

With love in Christ.

The same way some people call themselves Roman Catholic and practice contraception or lose their temper or struggle with pride...etc. We are all sinners. Some of us don't recognize what we are doing as a sin, but that is the first step in a long journey. We should lovingly pray for them and ask God to help us, too, with our own personal sins.

Yes, masturbation is against Roman Catholic beliefs. That doesn't mean we don't do it...it means we either go to confessio more or don't see it as a veery large sin. He probably sees it as the second option, as I think most people would.

I think sinning is still part of the Catholic religion, unless someone's lived their whole life without comitting one? No? What about admitting it, is that a sin? Still no? If he lied about it that'd be a sin though.

Wait a sec, are you judging? Casting stones? Do you call yourself Catholic?

I would say that no, that the Roman Catholic faith tradition is not against masturbation.

Just because he calles himself a catholic does not make him a Christian. They are not the same thing. Christian is a way of life.
This scripture describes someone like that director..

Titus 1:16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

There are way too many people out there that are reprobates. A christian must be obedient to God and to his word, and that starts with accepting Jesus as their savior and become born again.

John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

He didn't say he was a good Roman Catholic. He also is not a spokesman for the church, just a man being honest about what he does.

You can call yourself a Roman Catholic and commit all sorts of strange sins.... TEDDY KENNEDY IS A PRIME EXAMPLE.

He is a total hypocrite, abortionist, homosexual lover, Hater of God, filled with all rage and contempt for those who are good (all of which is contrary to Catholic teaching) and yet he goes to Catholic Church and pretends to worship God.

No one said Catholics were perfect. Masturbation may very well be the "thorn in his side". It sounds like he was revealing his weakness so we can know that our weakness is not a final condemnation.

Well from the movie Dogma it is clear he does not have a good understanding of Christian theology. ok neither does the Roman Cathloic church so I guess that explains a lot.
