Hi
Ignorance is the only ghost in the world. There is no world of ghosts. Being Hindu, I believe in life after death very strongly but also believe that once soul is departed it can't interfere in material world unless it is reincarnated.
God is almighty (if you believe) and if you firmly believe in him nothing paranormal can harm you.
You can put your room/house on cc survailence to see who moving things at night... and don't get surprised if you find a mischievous mice.
You can read 'I have lived Before' by Sture Lonnerstrand. Its a fascinating true study of the reincarnation of an Indian girl.

One way to test all the goings on is to hide a video camera in your room & maybe you will see how things are being moved. I would recommend you do this without telling anyone - including your wife. This way you will get a real true answer as to what is moving your things & YOU won't have any doubts.
Then if you see them moving & cannot explain it I would contact people who have had similar experiences - that is where you will get most answers to your questions. Good Luck & God Bless

Someone has lived and died in almost every house except for very new ones so, there are spirits that can be felt if you let yourself be sensitive to these things. I would suggest going to a spiritual or metaphysical store and buying a "smudging" or a Sage wand and burning it in every room of your house. I also do this in my business to drive out negative energy and make me more prosperous.

If your wife believes in that kind of stuff, read some Sylvia Browe stuff. I have and it helps to understand some of the supernatural that can, and have, occurred--but don't bother if you don't believe. It isn't always the Devil--but that's the easiest way for people to "explain away" things they don't understand or believe in. Enjoy her website...the link is below. Oh, and she explains the difference between ghosts and spirits...I found her books very interesting..hope you do too, if you choose to read them.

I have had a few of those running arround my house. I have had one that made things disapear and make lights turn off and on..But did not harm anything just a prankster.
I have had one that was horrible. Mean the energy was so horrible so we moved. We had dishes broken and no matter how hot it was out side or upstairs it was freezing cold downstairs. We had alot of people who said they would not go in the house because something was not right.
Do research on the history of the property and the house and local area.

Well, if there was a God, I would say that he'd have better things to do than move your stuff around in the middle of the night...Maybe it's time to get on some really good meds...Unless of course you are already taking some wacky "meds"...

By your own words one can determine neither of you are Christians and without the Lord as Savior and that leaves you both to open to receiving manifestations of evil spirits and being influenced by them.

I had this feeling once, so I went to the doctor. He diagnosed me as schitzophrenic and prescribed some VERY good anti-psychotics... you should try it. It will knock that feeling right out the window.

Yes, I have experienced things of the nature..and it's not fun! No..it's not God..He doesn't play tricks on people..but I will tell you that the devil does..and you need to get this thing out of your house! God/Jesus have power over this sort of thing..and if you follow after Jesus, so do you...if not, then you had better find someone that does.I know for a fact..I wouldn't put up with this in my house.
