While drinking it in moderation, of course.

I thought I heard this in a medical breakthrough some where. Is it true?

In moderation, red wine is good for blood pressure. I am not talking about the sugary flavored wines, but an actual Merlot or Cabernet Savignon, etc... Red wine is rich in anti-oxidants just as red / black (dark) grapes are. Lots of anti-oxidants are "absorbed" into the wine during the fermentation process of making the wine. Just like I said initially, in moderation, red wine is good for you.

Red wine and about two glasses a day.

It is known that a protein called endothelin-1 is implicated in the fatty build up within arteries that can lead to heart attacks. The researchers tested 23 red wines, four white wines, a rosé and one grape juice sample.

They discovered that a group of chemicals called polyphenols, only discovered in red wine, decreased the manufacture of endothelin-1 in the walls of arteries. This reduction was directly related to the level of polyphenols in red wine, with Cabernet Sauvignon topping the list as having the most positive impact.

The AMA says that up to 2 drinks per day of any alcoholic beverage helps your circulatory system perform better. Another fringe benefit of wine is it contains antioxidants that help battle cancer. If you sip in moderation (like 1 or 2 glasses with dinner) you should be alright.

My grandmother lived to be 98 by having a glass of wine for breakfast, lunch and dinner each day.

In her younger days, she performed a lot of work in the field.

One glass of red wine twice a day has been proven to have a beneficial effect on the cardiovascular system. As you say, no more than one glass per meal, tho.
