Why do most relgions believe that when you die you will either go to heavn or hell? If they are relgious they most likely read their Bible right? So then they would have read this
(Ecclesiastes 9:5-6) For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all, neither do they anymore have wages, because the remembrance of them has been forgotten.

You are right when you quote that Scripture. When a person dies, they are as if in a deep sleep without dreams. Another good Scripture to show what happens at death is Ecclesiastes 9:10--Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest."
This shows that people who die are not suffering or being tortured like Christendom claims. God is love and would never do that.

Hi,

The answer to your question can be found at http://www.logon.org/english/s/p008.html

Quoted from the work "Catholicism Frequently Asked Questions (No. 8)" under the header "Fatima" :

" If you said to anyone in the church in Rome in the second century that you were a Christian and that when you died
you went to heaven, they would have denied you were a Christian. They also would have denied that Mariam
(called Mary now) had been resurrected and quietly shown you the door as a heretic. Justin Martyr warned the
emperor about these people in the work First Apology. Justin said that he was not to believe they were Christians.
The Gnostics inserted this heaven and hell doctrine into the church after that period. It is a godless and
blasphemous doctrine. Look at the paper The Soul (No. 92) and The Resurrection of the Dead (No. 143). "

I believe this passage is referring to the dead who do not believe in God. For them it is to late to change their minds. The things that were important to the during their life that kept them from believing now have no value. The Christian faith believes in both heaven and hell. Hebrews 9:27, man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgement. If you are not saved and born again as a follower of Christ you will spend eternity in hell. On the other hand, Romans10:9-10 reads That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord" and believe that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. Also, Ephesians 2: 8-9, for it is by grace you have been saved, through faith and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God not by works, so that no one can boost.

I look forward to an eternity in heaven. Everyone else can too. My pastor relays it as simple as ABC. Admitt that your a sinner, Believe in the Gospel story that Jesus died for your sins and rose again victorious over death, and Committ your life to follow Jesus.

You need to look at who is talking to who about who. Keep in mind that the Old Testament is a history book and the New Testament is how life works since Jesus.

The work emphatically proclaims all the actions of man to be inherently "futile" and/or "meaningless," as the lives of both wise and foolish men end in death. While the teacher clearly promotes wisdom for the enjoyment of an earthly life, he is unable to ascribe eternal meaning to it. In light of this perceived senselessness, the teacher suggests that one should enjoy the simple pleasures of daily life, such as eating, drinking, and taking enjoyment in one's work, which are gifts from the hand of God. Ultimately the author concludes that his search for meaning to this life points to the fact that humankind's paramount duty is to "Fear God and keep his commandments (12:13)."

You could consider this two ways.
First, the "living" spoken of here is living in the Holy Spirit, not alive. And the "dead" are those not living in the Spirit.
Second, is the figurative word conscious, are we conscious when dead?

No heaven - no hell. If you are buried you are worm food. Your life is either heaven or hell while on Earth - that's enough!
