Catholicism is a branch of Christianity (others include Protestantism, Episcipalianism, etc.) They all believe that Jesus is the son of God. The biggie is the Pope - the Catholics believe in him as the highest authority amongst humans, the others don't. There is also the issue of Sainthood. The Catholics tend to be more likely than other sects to attribute God-like features to humans.

Catholics believe that the bread and wine truly become the body and blood of Jesus Christ during the Consecration, and are not just symbolic. We have a devotion to Mary and believe in the Community of Saints to whom we may petition. We believe that faith without works is dead. We do not believe that once saved, we are always saved. Salvation is something we have to strive for each day, we can not become complacent. We believe only one Christian Baptism is necessary and do not re-baptize converts from other Christian denominations who have already been baptized. If you have any specific questions about Catholic belief, you may e-mail me.

I think the notion that a man can be the final authority of God on earth is a bit silly, and I have often wondered what Peter thinks about being named the first pope....
Somehow, the idea of Peter in those robes and that silly hat, having people kneel in front of him and kiss his ring...well, I just don't see that happening. It just isn't...Peter-like!!

I don't know much about catholics, but I do know that the word christian means "Christlike". True christians will follow the examples that Christ Jesus left for all humans.

It should be the same, but unfortunately its not. The pope is just a person, Christ declares that we should follow HIM, and no one else. There's a difference pal. You decide who would you follow. I follow God the Eternal not a man that dies.

Whether there is a difference or not is beside the point, what really matters is each person's own personal relationship with Jesus, don't ya think? Bottom line that's it.

Christians Pray to God, Catholics Pray to the Virgin Marry. Chatholics have also added a number of restrictions to their lives that aren't in the Bible.
