Well, you posted this in the 'dog' category..so you will get answers from doggy people..but, hey! we have common sense too....
You are lucky to be rid of him before marriage vows were said.. You can raise the child on your own, and you deserve to find a much better man than your child's daddy.. anyone who would leave his family because of his mother's interference, is NOT a good life-long partner .prospect...This relationship would never work, and would keep you constantly threatened and stressed...not good for the baby......he has been given a choice...his mommy or you and his child..he chose his mommy...Your only, and best option is to let him go..or should I say..get rid of him..and start a new life.. You and your child will be much happier...YOU and YOUR child deserve better..and you can do it..

Sounds like the two of you (your boyfriend and you) need to have a sit down together and have a chat. Ask him (in a calm voice, no crying) if he intends to leave you and your son. Then you need to find out why. Maybe the two of you should move farther away from his controlling mother, or if he does go with out you, make sure he knows that you intend on getting support from him for you son, and although you know he does not want to be with you, that you'd still love it if he stayed in his Baby's life. Try not to yell as this will not help the situation, but if he wants to leave, you can't make him stay and arguing With him may push him out of your baby's life forever. Good luck.

How sad that someone could treat you so badly. Sadder yet, that you would want him to stay. You deserve so much more than he is giving you. Let him go, help him leave. Raise your child to be strong and to know that he/she is loved and deserving of love. Remember that you are also deserving of love and that is not what this man is giving you. He is not the kind of man who should raise a child, and his mother is certainly not the type of person who should be a grandparent.
Be strong, believe in yourself.

well first thing, he obviously doesn't love you if he is just going to pack up and move away. So maybe him moving is for the better anyways if he is not committing his whole being to you and your child. That is really the main point. If he is a pansy who wants to listen to his mom his whole life than let him be. You stand up and take everything from him. If he wants to move away and not be part of his child's life than he needs to sign full custody over to you and pay child support.

I was wondering what it had to do with dogs, but then I thought, this man must be a dog if he is going to listen to his mother and leave his child behind. Doesn't sound like the type of man worth having.

lol this is the pet section, but if he is always listening to his mom you shouldnt be with him if that irritates you. Talk to him and tell him how you feel about him always listening to his mother and not to the needs of both of you. I guess he needs to mature since he is only doing what his mother is telling him on what to do, that is not a man i would like having around. I like guys who respect and listen to their mothers, but not guys who would do anything mommy would tell them to do.

This sounds more like a problem for Dear Abby or Dr. Phill. As Judge Judy would say , "Quit whining."
