I don't have a lot to add to this answer, but my great grandmother used to always make us drink pickle juice when we weren't feeling well. Pickle juice is of course, mostly vinegar. This question made me remember that... weird.

Apple cider vinegar, once in the morning and once in the evening, about a tablespoon full.

apple cider vinegar is considered a tonic for many things, including flu.
You should ingest about a tablespoon, once a week.
