Why are people and restaurantes so opposed to the use of monosodium glutamate (MSG)?

What does this substance do?

Why is it not used any more?

MSG is used as an emulsifying agent and as a preservative and flavor enhancer. It was once jokingly called The Magic Powder of the East. It makes people sick, sleepy, or dizzy after they have eaten it. I believe it interferes with enzyme production in the body...

everytime I eat anything with MSG I get wicked cramps & diarhea. It's horrible and they put it in EVERYTHING.. so I cannot eat lot's of foods I really like anyways I found this on the web !

some people can't digest it, and then feel sick/dizzy after eating food containing it

it's still used in foods as a flavor enhancer

No it isn't good for your health. It makes your body absorbe things into places that arn't supposed to absorbe things.
