Michael Douglas is at least 27 years OLDER than Catherine Zeta-Jones. How often do you read stuff about their age difference?
It seems as if western society is far more concerned when it's a younger man with an older woman than the other way round!
Age shouldn't be an issue between consenting adults.
I say if the 55-year-old woman and the 27-year-old man really get off on each other, well, hooray! Go for it!
Life is short enough and we could all use a little more love!

I agree with Ralley and also the 55 yr old woman may not want to get too attached too early, It may just be a fling for the 27 yr old.

well if you love this person no age should matter as long as you are of age to make this decission iam 40 and my huban is 65 there is 25 years between us we have been togather going on 5 years i love him very much and he loves me we have a great relationship i wouldnot trade for anyone we can talk about stuff togather we work togather we are never away from each other and neither of us wants to be i fell in love with him not his age or anything else for that matter only for his friendship and his love that we share togather

age in my opinion is just a number, I am 17 and my fiance is 26, most people say its the maturity level that counts well he acts like a little kid I am more mature than him at times, I would find it approiate as long as the woman is in love and not looking for money. Sometimes dating someone younger makes you feel younger. an sometimes being with someone older makes you feel older... Its all a matter of opinion. But its the love that matters most.

Depends who's asking?
Woman side: Can you handle: looking like her mom when you're 75yrs old and he's 47?
He might look around when you no longer can satify him later on.
Does he want babies of his own?
Guy's side: Can you handle not having kids of your own with her?
How would you feel, when she can no longer keep up with you?
If you are into outdoor, hiking, camping, etc. will not be possible later on.
Time and time again, being stared at and being called her son or your mom, when you go out. (not just how you feel, but her too)

I am 30 and my husband is 46. He is very fit and no one believes he is his age he looks more like my age. He is way more mature than anyone my age I have dated and he has more life experience. It works perfectly for us. If he looked like an old fart with all gray hair and overweight then maybe I would not have found physical attraction. We just joke around and tease each other about our age. I keep him young and he wises me up a bit.
