I feel that God is leading me to give food to homeless and people in need. I have a plan that includes sandwich's, chips and juice. I have someone who knows where to go in town. I wanted to know if anyone knows how I can do this more efficiently. I have a limited budget and am thinking about spending $20-$40 on this. God Bless

Be patient, a LOT of homeless are that way because of mental illness or addiction. Many of them will get angry at you for trying to give them food instead of money.

Also be aware that many locations have laws about giving food to people on a scale larger than a sandwich or two a week.

You might also consider clothes, shoes, blankets and other things people exposed to the outside environment may need.

EDIT: I forgot to say GOOD FOR YOU!!!! If more people would take responsibility for making the world a better place........the world would actually BE a better place.

How ever you go about this you started from the right place, the heart. My church has a day when they hand out a few groceries and serve sandwiches. The ladies there make tons of fresh sandwiches. Just be sure to go with a partner when ever you go. And keep praying if this is a God thing he will make a way,He always does. I will pray in agreement with you. Just buy up canned tuna, peanut butter, canned corned beef ask stores for expired veggies like lettuce. Buy bulk packages of brown lunch bags, juice boxes. Possibly your own church may have a pantry you can get goods from, ask them. I liked Rody o's comments. I have done that, leaving things on a porch for someone else in need. And there will always be those who misuse help given , I leave that to God to sort out, Take care God Bless

I would say that if you do not belong to a Church, just give to the Salvation Army. If you know of a family that is in need just purchase some groceries and carry them buy. If they hesitate to take them just explain that an organization downtown wanted me just to deliver these items, and there are some things in the basket for your children.
I am like you in ways. There is a cross underneath this tree near my home that the family keeps decorated. It has a cross, and a gold plaque on the cross. It was an 18 year old female that was killed in that curve. About six months ago I taped a card there, with some money inside asking them to plant a "Mum" for me this october as I feel your pain.. I was there 29 years ago when my To-be wife was killed in Dallas, Ga. Do I still think about her.
I will never get over that...

But anyway, I admire what you are going to do! God Bless You.

Tips? What tips? You're spending 20-40 bucks...I would donate to a food pantry or church..go online, type in your area and type in food pantry or homeless shelter..don't give money..ever..it won't be used for food..most likely for cigarrettes and other non-needed items..try looking for young mother programs in your area..diapers/ formula/baby food is really expensive..there are plenty of young mothers out there that desperately need help

try buying staple, easy to preserve food, preferably rich in calories (now that winter is ante portas). perhaps some energy bars, or granola bars. there are shops that sell packed meals for campers. they are expensive though but well worth it. another idea is to prepare some kind of nutritious soup that can be consumed without a spoon (easy to swallow) and serve using thermos and styrofoam cups. it will warm the people up. as for drinks, juices and perhaps something warm and easy to prepare (tea, chocolate) also in thermos and styrofoam cups also sounds good.

I hope this helps.

That's a great idea...You might think about making huge pots of homemade chicken noodle (or rice) with lots of veggies...for nutrition's sake...but if you do that I believe you need a peddlers permit...You are doing a wonderful thing!
