I know I shouldn't do it, but I keep picking at the scab on my shoulder from laser tattoo removal. It's just too cool to pick off chunks of dead flaky skin. Why is that?

Maybe this could help you. Scabs need to come off but not by picking. Scabs have bacteria and can cause more infection. So you need to put a wound gel or something similar. Wash it with sterile water wipe with gaze until its soft again then put your gel on then put a piece of gaze and tape it. do this each day once watch it disappear with little or no scarring.
Experience know how. Have patience.

it's protecting your skin so why would your body want to let go of that. it clings just like you would to an umbrella in the pouring rain. wait until your skin is ready to finally let go and stand on it's own again...then pick away! but be careful because your body may retaliate and create a scar from detaching the scab too soon. relax and cover it up with sleeves and/or a bandaid.

Scabbing is a natural protection against infection. Leave them alone until they are near completely loose. Place a band aid over it to prevent "tearing off".
