My hairdresser says 6-8 weeks usually but since I am growing my hair out she told me to wait 16 weeks. In the mean time she told me to try not to wash every day or shampoo & condition one day and then the next day just use a light conditioner. This will help against damage in the next 8 weeks.

It depends on if your hair is damaged or not-if so- every 4-6 weeks is recommended. Of course short styles need cut more often. Less styling of hair(even drying) will cause less damage and reduce the need of cutting. My hair is usually healthy-so I go for every 2-3 months.

If you want to grow it longer, go 2.5 months, then get a small trim. Keeping it healthy in the interim will keep it looking nice longer than if you tend to style it to death.

I dunno. But when you cut it, do it yourself. It's a good skill and you might like it.
