NY is huge...how far north are you talking about? Saratoga Springs? Rochester? Buffalo? The farther north, the colder. However, it's significantly less cold in the winter than when I was a kid. Winters can still be quite harsh. February always seems brutal. Lows anywhere from the teens to just below 0.

Summers still get very warm, but obviously if you are in a more heavily wooded area it's cooler. Mostly 80's I would assume.

Go to The Old Farmers Almanac & check out a specific area.

I live in the Fingerlakes Region of NY. The weather obviously can change from year to year and I have noticed that our winters are becoming more mild than I remember them being when I was a kid. We usually get at least one good snow storm of about 17inches. The schools in my area usually only close due to winter weather conditions about 2-3 times a season. The temperatures usually stay around 30 degree most of the winter. I'm not much of a winter person but it is tolerable. The summers are warm, we usually have "shorts weather" from around June through Sept. The temperatures in the summer usually stay around 75 degree. I really enjoy the fall because the weather is still warm in the day and when the leaves change it is just beautiful. Overall I would say that upstate NY has a perfect blend of seasons and temperatures. With all that said I will confess that in three years when my son graduates I am seriously considering moving a little south. I have been living in upstate NY my entire life (37 years) and the change in the seasons are one of the things I love most. The areas in NY that seem to get hit the worst by the snow are Syracuse and areas north of there and Buffalo area gets allot of the lake effect snow. The Southern Tier area is fairly mild in the winter.

This winter i feel its going to be a somethings else. Its about 68 right now. Places like Buffalo, Utica, Poukeepsie gets really could. I like Troy its small and comfortable. Where my house is i have the few of the Hudson. Its so close that ifi jump out of the window iI would land in the water. If u have any ? Email me.

I live in Syracuse, and have been into Canada, and down to Florida in my travels. The tempurature from Syracuse north, can range from upper 90's in the summer to 10-15 below 0 or more in the dead of winter.
Alot will depend on what time of year it is. To me, the fall is the best as you get a bit of both warm and cool temps, and the turning leaves are beautiful

as you go North from Albany, the winter get more severe, but the other seasons are fine. One way to check. Is there a ski area near there- then it stays cold. Its beautifal country, mountauns trees streams, lakes.

GOOD LUCK
