They r the only two people who have always been there for me no matter what. My father is by far the best father anyone could have had, I wouldn't trade him for anything! I live very far from home, in another town but I see my dad every 5 to 6 days; he always come to visit me, my mother on the other end is an angel, I go to school, full time, and my mom is the one who is taking care of my son, he is five years old and my mom always carries him on her back (she suffers from arthritis and has issues with her feet) when she takes him to creche; they both call me everyday of the week, I talk to my dad three times a day and my mom once a day, if I need anything Ijust call them even if it is not important they always do it for me. So, in a nut shell I would say I love my parents with all my heart, I would never trade them for anything!

I love my folks!
I am an only child and my mom stayed home to raise me. She has been more of a best friend sort of figure than a mother sort of figure. There is nothing that we cant talk about. We have simmilar taste in music and when money and time allows we go to concerts together (and no.. i dont listen to bad music.. Mom's into metal.. lol.)
Dad is more uptight than Mom. We butt heads a bit but that's mostly because he wasn't around a lot (my folks are still together- but dad drove truck from the time I was 8 or 10 until I was 18). He's more of a 'parent.' than mom.

Fair weather at best. They kicked me out of the house and turned my bedroom into a storeroom within minutes. There was none of that "we left your room just the way it was when you moved out and you are welcome back anytime" jive.

My parents never visited me or called or anything (I lived 10 miles away) until six months later they showed up at my job to see if I was still alive.

Now it's years later and I'm a middle aged married parent myself. They send their grandkids birthday cards and sometimes we talk to eachother on the phone, but they are more like sixty five year old quirky acquaintances instead of the people who supposedly raised me. If we talk about anything of any substance, it just turns into a ugly pissing contest of an argument, so we have a truce to keep it to small talk and generally ignore eachother.

Someday soon they may need my help, and I if they ask I'll be there for them.

My mom is my best friend, I go to her about everything, I call her at least every other day, my kids adore her, she would do anything for anyone without being asked to do anything at all.
My step-dad is an amazing man who cared for myself, my older brother and two younger sisters as if we were his own as well as loving and caring for his own three kids and the one that he and my mom have together. He didn't have to, but he did it and he did it very well.
My real dad is kind of a loser, has been married four times, has four kids with my mom gave the youngest of us up for adoption to my step-dad, has two boys with his second wife gave them up to their step-dad so we don't even know them, he adopted his third wife's two kids now has nothing to do with them and is now married to his fourth wife they have two kids together and oh yes she graduated with my younger sister and is three years younger then me, guess I don't have the best feelings about her either. If I sound bitter it's because I am, the only children that my dad has time for are his first born, which was a son so go figure, that lives two and a half hours away from him (I live twenty minutes away and never here from him) and the two children that are currently living with him. Which are in the same age range as his grand kids. He is my dad though so I can't just write him off completly, but he is not the type of person that I look up to or that I want my kids to look up to either.

My mom is very supportive. She always encourages me, shes never negative. I do hair and even if its not her taste she's still proud of my creativity.

My father on the other hand is negative. I could come home with straight a's on the report card, a letter from an ivy league school saying that I have been accepted and he says nothing.

he has no emotion really. Its a shame.

I have mixed feelings where my parents are concerned. They'e good people but although you'd expect people to mature with age, mine apparently haven't. Guess thats why they fight a lot, but then again they're two strong minded persons. Whatever I am still happy to have them, they've done a lot for me and have taught me valuable lessons in life, lessons that I plan to teach my children as well. Despite everything they're good parents, they try their best, us children are not so perfect either.

I love them uncoditionally. I hated them when I was younger and wanted them to get divorced. I expecially hated my mom. But now that Im older and we are best friends I realize that our being so much alike is what made me so angry towards her.
But I talk to her everyday now and my father is my well, my daddy. I cant ever say enough about him, he knows everything. And thats NO exageration!
I dont know what I would ever do without them. Probably go nutz.
I find the longer I am married that my marriage is a total mirror of theirs.
