Well.. approx. 2 months ago (or so it seems) my ex girlfriend and i broke up. long story short, it was a fiery, painful, bitter experience. and i admit i'm not really over it... ...the question is... my brother talks to her occasionally.. and it really makes me uncomfortable. is it wrong for me to request that my brother doesn't talk to her? or is it "socially" acceptable.

Considering family is suppose to be open with each other, supportive, and caring... then I would say that it should be no problem asking him to not talk to her. Maybe if it was a different situation, such as: you both decided it was over and no hard feelings. The, "Hey, let's just be friend's!" thing. Then I would see no problem in her also being friends with your brother.

You said this was a fiery, painful, and bitter experience though. So your brother should keep your feelings in mind, maybe he doesn't know how you feel about it. The best thing you should always do is be honest in a situation like this. If your not honest about it your brother might get the idea you just don't care and then decide maybe... he likes her?

So talk about it with him. Also, you have to put yourself in his shoes too. Were they friends before you two starting dating? If the answer is yes, then maybe you should just let them still be friends. It all depends on how you both feel about the situation.

Yes,it's socially acceptable, although you must feel your brother is being dis-loyal. I still speak to my 3 ex-sister-in-laws.We're not as close as we were, but just because my brothers split with them,I did'nt.Could be a bit tricky when you get a new g.f and your brother mentions he's been talking to your ex. I know you're still hurting, but hold your head up and forget her.Tell your brother you don't want to hear about their conversations cos she's out of your life.Good luck

See she was apart of your life and you wanted for her and your family to get along. So now that they are friends and you and her are no longer a couple. Yes it is hard to do that and really you can't expect them to just stop dealing with her because your not together anylonger. Just tell them that you would prefer that they talk to her when your not around. Good luck

You should tell your brother how you feel. If you don't feel comfortable with this situation, you have every right to talk to your brother about this. You may or may not be able to stop his talking with her, but your brother will know not to cross any lines with your feelings. Good Luck.

Are your ex and your brother just friends. If they are not talking on just a freind level it would upset me to. But if not, you are the one that went through the painfull breakup not your bro.
