looks like most of you have gotten off pretty cheap, either from the government directly, or tax breaks for the businesses you work for, who pick up the slack. In a way, I guess we already have a form of socialized healthcare.

fireside, you didn't confirm your email, so I couldn't ask you in private, but what cigar reference are you talking about? And you DO have subsidized insurance, sounds like for a family of four, $400 is a 50 50 contribution, with your job contributing 50%, and taking a tax break from the government for it. And I will vote for Granholm!

Meh, nope. I pay around 50 bucks a month with my company.
Ok I do want to add that i did not have insurance for a few years and I still went ot the doctor when i needed to without anyones help. I was fortunate not to have anything major happen, but I was still able to get my regular checkups and a few minor procedures taken care of on my own.

I pay 400.00 dollars a month to insure a family of 4. No subsidized healthcare for me. I don't want socialized medicine. I grew up in the military and saw way to many people treated poorly by military and VA hospitals which is "socialized healthcare". I don't mind paying for the best.
Oh by the way thanks for the quip on the cigar post go back and read my response. :)

I personally gave six years active duty and my ability to have children.
now I have about 300$ a month taken out of my pay for everyone else who didn't do as I did and can use the VHA, or choose not to work.

I married a Canadian so as soon as my paperwork is approved I will have access to a national healthcare system. And the few things it doesnt cover my husband work subsidizes for free(dental, optical, private hopsital rooms, prescriptions)
As an american I htink it is SHAMEFUL that the US health system is so poor. A country that is as welathy as ours should provide a national healthcare system. It should be everybodys right to have access to free healthcare. Shame on us.

Everyone who receives more in the cash value of services than they put in in the way of cash. This is obvious, right?
I pay WAY more than $11K / year to insure just myself (I'm not a very good risk).

I pay more than that, and still cannot afford the services that illegal aliens get at our Hospital.
And I have not drawn a day of welfare or unemployment in my life.
Peace!
