this is for the guys
my friend was in a relationship for 8 years and it was not good it ended 2 years ago, she has been on a few dates in the last few months, but she wont say anything about her last relationship because she thinks that guys may think that she is needy.
do you think this is the right approach or should she just be honest

It is better not to keep past relationships a secret. Just like girls we don't like to find out these things from other people. I can tell from personal experience. My ex not only didn't tell me about her past relationships, but decided to revive one (or two - counting the guy who's car she trashed) behind my back.

In fact, having a relationship for 8 years might be a good indicator towards the level of commitment she can put forward.

heres the simple answer. if you have been in a relationship for some time your bound to say, do, act and react in a way your partner understands. when you enter a new relationship you are bound to take all that stuff with you. the nice thing is that you learn to adapt to the new one, but you cant really escape the last because it was a learning curve somewhere along the line.

You don´t have to mention it, your new guy should like you the way you are right now! What happened in the past is past.

If something comes up about your previous relationship then you may tell him, but if not, forget and move forward.

Honesty within relationships is always best, timing is however paramount. When your friend meets someone she feels comfortable with, someone she trusts (which takes time to build) and when she feels secure enough then she can share honestly. "needy" is part of being a human being, and i personally would take needy over dishonesty anyday. goodluck

She should be honest, because she has to let it out someday...you can´t keep a secret forever!

BE HONEST. I WOULD WANT TO KNOW ABOUT THE PREVIOUS RELATIONSHIPS SO I WON'T MAKE THAT SAME MISTAKE
