I don't think this was a legitimate question, but I'll put in my two cents anyway. I agree! I mix is a mix is a mix. If you come to my clinic with a Labradoodle, I'll put on your chart either Labrador Retriever Mix or Standard Poodle Mix, whichever one your dog looks most like. Same with all other mixes. It takes a long time to develop a new breed, and just mixing two dogs of different breeds together, doesn't make a new breed, therefore it doesn't warrant a new name. When you spend THOUSANDS of dollars on mix breed dogs, you are encouraging people to be irresponsible breeders, and contributing to the pet overpopulation problem. You want a mix breed dog? Go to your local kill shelter, adopt a dog and save a life.

i dont think theres anything wrong with people owning mongrels because every dog needs a home but i no what you mean about the like of labradoodles or pugapoos etc kennelclub breeds should be the ones that have been around forever not ones that people make up, they shouldnt be aloud to register them because they are not 1 pedigree.

If I'd called my old Husky/Shepherd mix a "Shusky," he would have bitten me. And any in event, he would have much preferred to be called, "Lord High Emperor of the Known Universe and Supreme Potentate of the Food Dish."
Max had too much class and character to lend himself to some cutesy "designer breed" abomination like Labradoodle or Doodleman Pinscher. If only people had the same good sense and taste!

I agree. I have a Rottweiler Doberman mix and I have never insisted that she was a Rotterman. Nor did I pay a thousand dollars for her. 50 bucks from a shelter and that included shots and spaying! And she was a puppy when I got her, (just to show that shelters DO have puppies).
I don't have a problem with the dogs themselves...just the people who insist they are purebred. And btw..Cockapoos are not a recognized breed.
I also do not put their cutesy name on paperwork at my grooming shop. And boy do some people have a hissy fit over it, insisting that their dog has papers. Ok, sure. Where are they then...."Oh, the breeder hasnt sent them to me" LOL hmm..imagine that.

I love mixed breeds--their existance isn't necissarily a problem (though there'd be a lot fewer of them if people would spay and neuter their dogs). It's that there are mixed breeds overflowing shelters, yet because of the cutesy names and the "designer dog craze" people are purposefully breeding them and selling them for huge sums of money. And people are actually buying them instead of going to a shelter and saving a dog's life for hundreds of dollars less. If people wouldn't buy them, unscrupulous "breeders" wouldn't breed them and dog overpopulation wouldn't be as much of a problem.
I've had two mixed breed dogs. Both $50 from the pound. I saved money and saved their lives.

Why should anyone care what I call MY crossbred...I am still looking for a cute name to call my adorable little mutt..She is a doxie/silky mix....she deserves a name as much as any other dog..I can always call my mutts 'Canardly terries" or 'Hienz', as I used to, but I sure can't see a problem with naming her a name...
It is no one else's business...So why would anyone else even care....
.I breed these gorgeous large purebred dogs, but have always had a small mixed breed as a very special companion...
I used to have a Chihuahua /Pug mix..that was from my mother-in-law's small Chihuahua breeding program.. an accidental breeding .(her grandson brought over his 'too young to worry about' pug....mom in law didn't even know it had happened until the little Chi's were born with the snub nose and black mask! lol...it was very funny..but not to her..).. We called him a Chug..way back in 1983.... Now, when one says the name 'chug', you know it is a cross of Chi/Pug....We were fashionable and didn't even know it! lol
My mom had a small standard poodle, that the neighbor's Labrador romanced...poor mom had to give them away with a 50 pound bag of dog food..to get them all placed....If only she had known! But that was in 1970...when they were still just silly mutts...sigh

I've got a Border Collie / Pug mix and I call it a Border Pug just cause it gets tiring to say I have a border collie / pug mix when people ask what kind of dog I have.
I'm not trying to sound like I've got an exotic breed I'm just plain lazy.

does it matter what we call them as long as we love them, and respect them... it's a free country.... big deal.... there are bigger issues in the world....just because you full bred dog has a title... don't player hate those who give their mixed breeds/mongrels/whatever you call them a cutsie title......
