The best type of dog is one that suits you, and one that you can look after properly. This makes for a happy and healthy dog. Each dog has different requirements, and if you can't meet those requirements, botht the owner and the dog will be unhappy.

I have two completely opposite types of dog, a Weimeraner and a Jack Russell. The W. needs loads of exercise and outdoor activities, which I love. The Jack Russell, although small, is quite hyperactive, and enjoys the 'chase' with the big dog.

They are excellent company for each other although they are so different. I used to love mainly big dogs, ones that you can really hold and cuddle, but since having a small dog, I am coming round to the fact that they are just as rewarding as a pet.

The best kind of dog is the one that best fits your life style, energy level, and the amount of time you have to spend with the dog. You need to research all the breeds to find the one that will suit you best. What's best for someone else may be totally wrong for you - dogs are a very personal thing and no one can tell you what's best for you.

A cross breed, they are less prone to illness than pedigree dogs are, live for longer and tend to have a better temperment. You should pick the size of your dog depending on how much room you have for it and time to exercise it and if it will be around children. Also there is no point getting a long haired dog unless you have the time to groom it properly every day.

That answer depends on the lifestyle and personality of the owner/family of the dog. Every dog is the best dog for SOMEBODY but not everybody. Personally, I am a huge fan of Great Danes, but that wouldn't be the best dog for my grandmother.

Well, it depends. If you are allergic, I would say the best type of dog would be one of the schnauzers, of course I am biased in that I once had one ;) If you aren't allergic, it depends on what type of family and house you have. Some dogs dont' like kids, while others love them. Just look at this site I found

I love Labrador Retrievers, they fit my lifestyle perfectly. My dog loves the water and I spend a good deal of time camping and kayaking. And I also love winter sports and their coats are perfect for the snow. They area also very friendly and yet protective over their family if necessay. They are a perfect all around dog.
