Hi there,

I would suggest you exercise three times/week (skipping a day in between each time), for about an hour, and I would focus on strength training exercises as this helps to burn fat more efficiently and will help you tone as well.
An example could be something like pilates, where you are using your own body, or weights, but for the latter, please be careful not to start with or do too much, or lift too quickly. Slower is better, and more effective.

Having said this, I would suggest you also take a half hour walk every day, preferably in the evening, after supper. Cardio is really important for the health of your heart and overall physical condition and walking will also help with digestion.

Keep in mind that a healthy number of pounds to lose per week would be 1 1/2 to 2 pounds. It may not seem like much, but losing more or losing too quickly is not healthy and would also make it more likely for you to relapse. Think gradual but consistent, and successful. :)

Best of luck.

Hi and good luck! There are some good answers on here, but I would start off with doing cardio three times a week. If you are just trying to burn fat, this is the best way, along with eating healthy. Try to go about 80% for 20 miutes for the first week, and then if you can handle that, raise the time increments by 5 minutes each week until you get between 45 minutes and an hour.

You can choose to do more than one type of cardio, for example - half an hour of aerobics and half an hour on the eliptical trainer. If you are a member of a gym, talk to the personal trainer. A lot of the smaller gyms would be better for things like this, because the trainers get paid hourly by the gym itself, and that is not an extra cost that you will have to incur. Then, you can choose to hire them as you progress and your needs change.

You don't have to starve yourself to lose weight, just concentrate on portion control and healthy alternatives to what you are already eating.

After you get into the routine of being in the gym atmosphere, you can choose to add weight training into the mix as well. if youwant to look like Arnold, there are a lot of publications that will help you with a good routine to work your major muscle groups. Be sure that you stretch before and after your exercise (cardio included).

Have fun and good luck! :)

Listen: you need to do 200 minutes of cardio a week. Remember fat does not turn into muscle, so you need to lose your fat while putting on muscle. The 45 minute thing is not true, but don't over 60 minutes at a time.

Do 5-10 minutes of cardio to warm up, then do your weight training. Do 30 to 60 minutes more of cardio, then go home.

The best time to eat is just after your workout within an hour when your metabolism is raging. For your muscles, incorporate some isolated soy protein or whey protein. Whey is more potent but the soy tastes better!

Don't look at your scale as the be all and end all, but get a measuring tape to check your progress, and that will show more tangible results.

Good luck and stick at it.
