You are in a bit of a pickle. If HP won't issue you a new recovery disc you have only one real option. That would be to buy a new copy of your operating system and go to HP and download the drivers you need. I went to HP myself and a "z8000" is a desktop so you might be in even more trouble with that.

The graphics drivers are not hard to get, you just need to know what type of card you have they are all pretty avaiable at that point.

If you just have regualr old XP pro you might be able to go to microsoft and ask for a new software disc (but you would need to probably mail them the old one). The software would be consiterably less than the price of a whole new XP CD. Most of what you are paying for in an off the shelf box is the licence -- which you would already have in teh form of a 16 digit (4x4 alpha-numeric number) on a sticker on your computer or on a card with your original CD.

Call up Microsoft & HP, try to convince them. If they dont budge, sue them. Or, goto the closest "China Town" and buy a new CD for $10.

It is very unlikely to be honest that you will be able to get one, although I would get in touch with HP and try. Alternatively get yourself onto e-bay and I'm sure you will find a recovery cd for sale

I think you need to get with HP on this... ask to speak with a supervisor or something. How old is the computer?

You contact HP and ask for the recovery disc for your particular system!
