You need to bear in mind that they had no idea what was going to happen. They, or at least the people in the first three planes, thought they were just in a standard hijacking - sit down, shut up, and you'll get out ok after the negotiations are done. They didn't realise that their life was in their own hands.

I have thought about his a lot, the best idea I came up with is to gather help from fellow passengers and over power any scum sucker guarding the passengers, then tie as many belts and scarfs and clothes to make 2 long ropes with nooses. Break down the cockpit door put the nooses around the scum suckers heads and have everyone pull them right out of the cockpit, it would have to be quick and only one person could fit in there so it would be a challenge. Then I could slip in to the pilot seat and stabilize the aircraft, radio the tower to tell them we have retaken the plane and we need help landing. Would it work? Probably not, if the scum suckers pushed the stick all the way forward during the scuffle, I don't think the aircraft could be pulled out of a dive like that.

On 9/10 the answer was to wait it out and hope the hyjackers stayed calm until the plane landed and the local SWAT could take them out. On 9/11 the rules changed. Unfortunatly, only the folks on flight 93 were clued in to that.

Now the answer is you fight like hell if you want to live.

Well, I would try to do the smartest thing I could think of. I know that the food is out by the back, near the washrooms. If I could work up the courage, I would go back there if none on the terrrorists were looking, or if there was one looking I would try to negotiate with him to let me go to the washroom. I would look for wine or beer bottle or anything than is glass or that can do some damage, and take large amounts with me. I would then go to the washroom for a while and make it seem like I am getting drunk, so I could smash one of the bottles and it wouldn't make them so suspicious. I would crack the door open so I could kind of see what's outside. One of the terrorists would probably go to see what's with the noise I'm making. Then would be my chance, I would spring out when he least expects it and jab his throat with the beer bottle several times until he's dead, trying to do this as quiet as possible. If more of them saw me and came back there to get me I would use the dead body as a shield, reach for the hot coffee, throw it on his eyes, then I would reach for the broken bottle to get him in the throat. Then I would yell at the passengers to fight the rest of the terrorists. I would try to use the same techniques to engage the rest of them.

I seriously doubt the passangers knew exactly what was happening. Yes, they knew they had been hijacked but that was probably it.

If they knew they were going to fly into the WTC or Petagon, I'm sure they would have acted differently.

By shear numbers, if the passangers would have taken control of the situation they would have done it or it would have ended like the flight that crashed in PA.

By attacking the hijackers, yes, some would have lost their lives, but the hijackers would not have been able to overpower all of them.

I think that's a bunch of bullsh^% the GOV. is trying to indicate to the world they had to have GUN or something else extreme!

Such a trivial question. We wouldn't have known what would happen if we were on the plane. The people on the plane did not know the outcome. It is easy to look back and see how things could have been different if we knew the aftermath.

The only approach passengers could fight the terrorists is the human wave. Passengers line in ranks and each line figth until they die. At some point the terrorist will be beaten. They would crash the plane anyway but it would save innocents in the WTC.

put my head between my legs and kissed my @ss goodbye.

I would have probably fought to the finish.
being a fighter, I would have liked to give those terrorists a good @ss kicking. But I don't fly anymore, I refuse to hop a plane as I did in the past. If I can't drive......I don't go!
So when are they building the bridge to Australia?

Basically you have nothing to lose. Why not at least try to attack them and see if you cannot take back the plane? Say a quick prayer, and like that man said- "Let's roll!"
