Dogs can get pneumonia, but I don't think they can get it from people. It generally starts off as Kennel Cough then progresses to pneumonia without treatment. There were some studies done years ago (I'd cite them if I remembered where) about zoonotic diseases (diseases that can pass between species) and I believe they decided that, rarely, things like the common cold and things like that can pass to animals from humans and vice versa. It is unlkely that a dog would get such a disease from its owner, but not impossible.

It depends on if you mean contract pneumonia from you, or on their own/from another dog.

Yes, a dog can have pneumonia. Pneumonia is not something that a dog can pass to a human, or a human to a dog -- But it is possible for your dog to contract it from another dog, or to develop it on their own.

If you think your dog may have pneumonia, please see a vet asap. Pneumonia can easily become something worse, and it doesn't take much to seriously harm a dog.

Good luck!
