Slim Fast is an excellent way to lose weight, however, it wasn't designed for long term use as the sole source of nutrition. It also depends on how much weight you need to lose. Per their website you're supposed to consume 3 servings a day but in addition to an actual meal. I have a family member who tried Slim Fast and found she could only have 1-2 servings per day because she would get the shakes. Eventually her electrolytes got out of whack and she had to quit. We never knew if it was from the Slimfast or not. 3 years later she was diagnosed with diabetes (NOT as a result of Slimfast!) so we're not sure if she was an undiagnosed diabetic at the time or if there was something really happening with just using Slimfast.

Personally, I chose the Cambridge Diet. It works very much like SlimFast in that you consume 3 servings per day in the form of a shake, soups or oats but you can use it more on a long term basis because it provides the body with 100% of it's vitamins, minerals and trace elements. They usually reccommend you see a physician after 2 weeks on this particular supplement just to be sure that there are no unknown health conditions before continuing on with it long term. I followed this advice and went to my physician after 2 weeks on the program. She was thrilled and told me to keep with it as long as I needed or wanted and that she was going to start recommending this to all of her patients. It's cheaper than SlimFast too.

How long? Not even one day. The literature that comes with them tells you to eat at least one real meal a day while doing the shakes. Why would you want to go against the directions?

I'm sure your doctor or dietician can tell you the same thing, Slimfast isn't sufficient as a meal replacement for every single meal of the day. To do so can be dangerous. Do not take your life and health lightly, follow a sensible reducing plan. Follow the Slimfast plan as it is written, if your doctor agrees with it. Always check with your doctor before starting a diet or exercise plan.

NOT a good idea....first off....when you do start to 'eat' normally again you will gain weight very quickly because you have been starving your body..... anything less than 1000 calories a day and you'll likely gain weight the minute the diet is finished... eat a well balanced diet in the evening...meat and salad or some carbs...rice or potatoes... personally I think drink shake diets are a waste of time...try South Beach, Weight Watchers or the GI diet...there you will create good eating habits for life...and not binge dieting.....

i think it would be fine it has a lot of nutrients the problem will arise when you try to go out in public you see slim fast in excess especially can make most people gassy so as long as you don't care that you sound like the wind instrument section of an orchestra and the pain that will be involved when gas gets trapped I think its safe

Forget anything you have ever been told about Diabetes.

And get this - it has nothing to do with insulin, exercise, diet or anything else you've heard in the past. It's all based on latest breakthrough research that Big Pharma is going Stir Crazy to hide from you.
