I decided to lose my extra weight.

I am about 10 pounds overweight, but I would like to lose 30 to get back to my “normal” weight.

I have been eating 1000 calories a day, only healthy food and no sugar.

I have been walking 3-4 miles everyday.

And I have been lifting weights a few times a week.

I am not pregnant or breastfeeding.

I have been doing this for 10 days and have lost 6 pounds.

Do you think I can lose 30 MORE pounds in 3 months?

You've lost mostly water weight so far. Its healthy to loose 2-3lbs a week. So yes, its reasonable to loose 30lbs in 3 months.

If you work very, very hard, and 100% watch what you eat. a weight loss of 1-2 pounds a week is healthy.

Listen: you need to do 200 minutes of cardio a week. Remember fat does not turn into muscle, so you need to lose your fat while putting on muscle. The 45 minute thing is not true, but don't over 60 minutes at a time.

Do 5-10 minutes of cardio to warm up, then do your weight training. Do 30 to 60 minutes more of cardio, then go home.

The best time to eat is just after your workout within an hour when your metabolism is raging. For your muscles, incorporate some isolated soy protein or whey protein. Whey is more potent but the soy tastes better!

Don't look at your scale as the be all and end all, but get a measuring tape to check your progress, and that will show more tangible results.

Good luck and stick at it.

A healthy way to lose weight is by losing 2 pounds per week. (You didn't get overweight over night, so don't fee the need to lose it over night!!) Don't feel discouraged if you don't meet your 30 pound goal. If you lose more than 2 pounds a week you could be burning muscle instead of fat. Muscle burns more calories than fat, so you don't want to start losing muscle!!

Something that can help boost your progress is to start adding in some running or jogging miles into your walks.

Not to burst your bubble, but at first you will lose the most weight fast because you are losing water weight. As your body gets used to exercise, you will have to push it harder in order to get through the plateau and lose more pounds. Increase the intensity when that time comes, or exercise longer.

As for losing 30 more pounds in 3 months, you might be able to do it. I doubt you will be able to live on 1000 calories for the rest of your life though, so you will end up gaining all of your weight back once you start eating normally again. Just eat healthy and sensibly, you will be able to maintain that eating regimen forever.

What you're doing is fantastic! Good for you taking such initiative! I think at this rate you should continue losing, however, with the exercises you're doing don't forget that you're gaining muscle and muscle weighs more than fat. Don't be alarmed if you seem to not be losing as much weight. Measure your hips and waist because you might find you're actually losing inches faster than pounds.

I've lost 30 lbs in the past 2 1/2 months but because my metabolism was "freaky slow" after having had a baby I chose the Cambridge Diet. Most people lose at least 10-15 lbs in the first 2 weeks (In your case you'd likely lose 10. The more weight your body has to lose the faster you lose it so you'd lose at a slightly slower rate than most) and then they lose an average of 5 lbs every week after. It's extremely healthy because it provides the body with 100% of it's daily nutrition, vitamins and trace elements.

What you're doing, however, is also great so unless you fear you're going to plateau I'd say keep it up!

Sure you can. Its best to lose an average of no more than 2 pounds a week. More than that is not as healthy. Sounds like your doing everything the proper way to lose. Try eating several small meals a day instead of 3 meals a day. If you eat several small meals you body won't hold onto its excess store of fat because it won't think your starving. Did you get rid of the salt and breads? Keep going sounds like your doing a great job.
Good Luck on those 30 pounds!!

My First question is if you are 10 pounds overweight then how come losing 30 will get back into your normal zone?

anyways lets get back to your question... Losing 10 pounds per month can be bit stretched...

According to doctors you should be look into losing 1 pound per week. If you are overweight... for first month you'll be losing something like 2-3 pounds per week(depending n how overweight you are and what kind of routine you are doing).

As you'll be getting back into shape.. You wo't be losing as much weight as you were earlier.. this is because

Your body is getting back into shape plus its gaining muscles. Muscles are heavier... So it'll look like you are not losing weight... Most people give up as they think they are not progressing enough...

Just keep that in mind...

I definitely believe it's possible but it may not be safe. Recommended weight loss is a max of 2 pounds per week, but 3 months is 12 weeks. 12 x 2=24 pounds...So, it's only six pounds more than the maximum recommended weight loss. I'd say go for it! I wish I could do the same! You go girl! Do it! Do it! Do it! Just be aware of your body and don't overdo it. Best of luck to you!

30 pounds in three months is a very do-able goal, but you're eating far too little. No human being above the age of 10 should eat 1,000 calories a day. What you have lost so far is mostly water weight, and if you continue on this starvation diet you'll lose muscle, not fat (the body greedily hangs on to fat stores when you're in starvation mode, and muscle takes more energy to maintain, so the muscle goes and the fat stays). Try increasing your caloric intake to 1,500 calories a day, keep eating healthy food, keep exercising, and make sure you don't neglect the "good for you" fats that your body needs -- you'll find them in eggs, nuts, avocadoes, fish/fish oil, flax seed/flax seed oil, and olive oil. Good luck!

You can do anything as long as you work hard at it and believe in yourself. Walking and lifting is good but always remember that muscle ways more than fat, so as you lose your fat and gain muscle your weight won't drop as dramatically as you may want. I'd try and work in some kind of high energy cardio into your routine, like maybe alternate walking and running or do an aerobics class or video. I've been doing belly dancing and its a good muscular and cardio work out and it makes you focus on your breathing with body isolation. Good luck and keep up the good work.
