Both the take off and the landing are much more dangerous than the rest of the flight in cruising altitude.
In a way take offs are even more dangerous than landings as some unknown mechanical faults or human errors in maintenance can immediately manifest as the plane is pushed to it's limits. Once plane goes beyond the speed of v1, rotate, v2 etc there is no turning back or the possibility of changing your mind about not taking off even if you are still on the ground, because the speed is too high to stop within the available runway distance in front of you.
So if I really have to pick between the two, I'll go for landing.

I love to fly bi plane, helicopter, big jet i don't care lets go.......but at that moment when you (I am in the process of getting my sport pilot ticket)or the pilot start to throttle up i get this tiny pang of fear which makes me look at the gauges ( or hope the pilot and copilot are looking at them) to confirm the well being of the machine then a second later its time to release the horses and go which turns into a real high the thrill of speed and defying gravity is something I can not or do want to quit. After that it is all routine even landing on a jetliner they rarely miss and in the 2 seater you are busy concentrating on your glide path changing winds and speed you don't have time to think about anything else

The takeoff is sometimes exhilirating, but I do like the landing because I know that within an hour I'll be at home in bed. One time we flew in a thunderstorm and the turbulence was so bad, we kept hitting air pockets and dropping, it was quite scary!!

Lanidind can be fun. Landed in Indianapolis on a night that was 22 below zero in Jan, Just before landing, the Pilot came on and said (and I am not kidding) "Well ladies and gentleman, that last pland that tried to land made it, so we are going to try as well." (Runway was VERY iced over and it was hard snowing.) This is not what you want to hear from you pilot! You could tell he put it down very gingerly, and we coasted for quite a bit before he kept gently apply the thrust reversers and brakes. As soon as we were down, they CLOSED the airport fo the night!

My answer comes from being/seeing near midair collisions. On take off the aircrafts are diverging away from each other, thus lessen the changes of a midair. When landing all the aircraft are convering to the same airport.

Landing, because flights are boring and it means I've gotten there.
Worst flight I had was on a Virgin Atlantic flight Miami to London.
It hit a huge air pocket, The stewardess actually went weightless to the overhead bins and then hit the ground hard. I got covered drinks.

I like take off better, feeling the power of the jet engines and the small g-force.
Landings can be rough.. but always nice to get back on the ground safely.

I fly with a hot air balloon pilot and windy take offs are my fav. Windy landings are the worst, because you can bump and drag unless the crew is there to weigh down the basket when you hit the ground.

I'm a pilot so I like both, but the landing is were the skills are put to the test. Take-offs are easy, anybody can do that.
