To fear God is to fear every thing on this earth, why would a God create such beauty for you to fear him, If God is a loving and caring God then you should expect compassion love and joy from him, he created you to love one another and respect him for what he has given you, he really doesn't ask a lot in return it's the religious fanatics that create the God fearing thing so you will beg forgiveness and pay for something God has not asked you for, there is so much religious ignorance in this world today it's pathetic.

It´s a man´s idea!

No you don´t have to fear him, that´s created by men so that you can follow a specific religion or book or else otherwise you eternally burn in hell and things like that. Totally not true!

everything in the universe has a source, and the main source you can call God, whiche creates everything and everything has part of it. So when you pray, meditate, think, or only wish for something you are getting a connection with this source and somehow you attract what you really want.
There fore there is no hell, no punishment or that, everything is an effect of what´s on your mind and your own actions.

"We are not in the grasp of a great cosmic joy-killer, as many people seem to view God. God delights in human enjoyment.

The third thing the Searcher says is that it all must be discovered by realizing that God is in charge and He will not bend His plan for anyone.

I know that everything God does will endure forever; nothing can be added to it and nothing taken from it. God does it so that men will revere Him (3:14).

God has sovereignly and independently set up the plan of life in a way that cannot be interfered with. He "does it so that men will revere Him" (3:14).

All through the Bible we read that "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom." Until we recognize and trust the superior wisdom of God we have not begun to fear God. This fear is not abject terror of God, it is respect and honor for Him. If you try to live your life without recognizing God, ultimately you will find yourself (as the Searcher found himself) empty, dissatisfied, and restless, feeling that life is miserable and meaningless. The secret of life is the presence of God Himself.

Most of life's struggle comes when we want to play God ourselves, when we want to be in charge. That is true even of Christians. When God refuses to go along we sulk and pout and get angry with Him. We throw away our faith and say, "What's the use? I tried it but it doesn't work!" What foolishness! God will not surrender His prerogatives: "Nothing can be added to it and nothing taken from it. God does it so that men will revere Him.""

Fear of God is a little different than fear of, say, heights. The phrase fear of God means a healthy respect for the Almighty and His opinion of you. It's not as if you'd be walking down the street and see God, and you're like, "Ahh! It's God! Run for your lives!" Fear of the Lord means keeping His precepts in the forefront of your mind and thereby to live according to His ways.

I do not think it's egocentric, I think he just demands respect. Much like a parent would. I never really feared my parents but I darn sure had a healthy respect for the punishments I might have to face if I messed up.

ego centric= self absorbed, self involved, self seeking, self serving. GOD is the exact opposite. He loves us and thinks of us always. He knows every step we take every thought we think and loves us no matter what. He does demand respect, fear. As any good parent would. Have you read the Bible? Start with book of John. If you haven't give it a try. Then you will know if this is man's idea or God's

God is just another fake creation by man.

Humanity has created many Gods, for example – Gods of Olympus, Ancient Egypt, Babylon and so on. Most of us are atheists about most Gods humanity has created, except the latest craze, the current God in the Bible. Learned atheists have also rejected this version of a God, but some hard-core believers still hang on, presumably until a better image of God is created by man.

Faith in God seems to be nothing more than humans attempting to run away from reality, an excuse to avoid thinking and evaluating evidence. Faith is just an emotional escape and really just a substitute for opening your eyes to reason.

Believers talk about God creating man in his own image. It’s in the Bible so it’s fact – get a grip, get real. The facts suggest the exact opposite. Man created God in his own image. I’m sure humanity will disregard this God, as they have disregarded all previous Gods, it’s just a matter of time before humanity creates another God that better serves their emotions and image.

the word "Fear" is not a feeling or act of being afraid....rather, it denotes reverence or respect. One who is egocentric has a highly inflated image of self...that the universe revolves around themselves. With God, that isn't a delusion...its a reality.

Why is God so egocentric?? Because she's God, not God's gift, actual God. As far as fearing God, I believe that is man's idea to control the masses.

This is God's law and not man's idea. Fear means to respect God and obey Him, and for that obedience, we shall be rewarded with blessings from God.

Psalms 67:7 God shall bless us; and all the ends of the earth shall fear him.

Proverbs 2:5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.

If you had children, you would want them to obey you. Well God wants us to obey Him. It's not that complicated.
