You could have your wife tr with a tweezers or something But you would be better off going to the hospital before any real damage is done.
and for the future, your not supposed to stick the Q-tip that far in your ear, you could do permanent damage to your hearing, there just ment to clean the outer area.

Lie down with the affected ear upwards
Pour a little oil into the ear (olive oil or something nice ... nothing with chilli in it)
See if the cotton ball floats up.
If it doesn't drain the oil out and then go to your doctor. They will have to take it out with some fine tweezers under direct vision.

Once I had something in my ear and it hurt very bad. I went to the E.R. and they wound up putting some drops of something to numb it because it hurt so bad when the doctor put those scissors or tweezer things to pull it out. Then he said if I moved the wrong way while he was in my ear that it could damage my ear drum. So I would definatley go to a doctor.

First of all, don't stick anything more in there, including the tweezers that some have suggested. You could do irreparable damage to the eardrum.
Ear drops usually come with a little syringe bulb. Try flushing it out with that.
If that doesn't work, go to a doctor.

My son had stuck something in his ear canal once. I was able to remove it with a pair of tweezers. BUT if it starts to put the cotton further back, then you need to let a dr. take care of it for you. What my son had in his ear was very easily to grab and still partly sticking out of the ear canal. IF yours is in much deeper, see your dr. first.
I don't suggest trying the ear and oil treatment. Usually when cotton gets wet it sticks to the area it's at. Talk with your dr before even attempting that. And the oil would have to be "sweet oil" which is merely extra virgin olive oil. A common treatment for ear aches.

tweezers that come in those mini pocket knives. they're more narrow and smaller, dont use your wife's eye brow tweezers because those r big and wont work.... n u should honestly invest in a better brand q-tip. because i've found that cheaper ones will have the cotton tip fall off.
good luck gettin it out. dont wanna cause any irritation or infection.

Ok, try this. Close your eyes and mouth, hold your nose, and plug your other ear then blow. The q tip should come flying out. Good luck!
