Honestly, I assume that you have looked real hard for the ring right. I would be hurt and extremely mad. I would never allow her in my home again. Like instead of her coming to your house meet outside like mickey D's,starbuck or a park. Thats if you feel she is worth being in your presence.

Confront her with the facts. Tell here she can give the ring back OR you will call the police and file charges against her. Make a thourough search before you do this though.

It will be really hard to determine if she stole the ring if you dont have any proof that she did. Make sure she did it before you judge her, it will be much better if you have no doubts that she did it and do what you want to do than to accuse someone and finding out that they were innocent

First, do a thorough cleaning of your house. Sometimes things do get mislayed, tumble off dressers, get eaten by the cat.

Then, if the ring doesn't turn up, talk to the police.

Are you sure it wasn't just misplaced. Accusing a family member of theft is a pretty hefty allegation. Why would she think it was worth $5000.00 anyway? Maybe a little too much bragging, and why wasn't it on your finger to begin with?

tell her you filed a police report (or file one for real....) there are consequences to actions--even if the evidence is circumstantial in her mind!

it might be best to file one---if she denies vehemently that she didn't do it (you know she did, you can tell the officer this in private) there needs to be a record.
