Isn't religion is the source of all of today's intolerance?

I realize there's a risk of re-creating what I rail against, but if religion is about intolerance, and this intolerance kills people, isn't the best way to oppose it by being intolerant of intolerance and therefore to hate religion?

If this is not a panacea, show me a better way to make sure that religion assumes LESS influence in global affairs.

Not hatred, just total disdain! Treat religion like the utter absurdity that it is.

I wish I knew of a way for separation of church and state to be a reality, rather than the theory it's become in the U.S. If our country is truly about allowing the freedom of religious expression, then our government has to be completely free from all religious influences. Or allow influences from each and every religion, not just the "major" or "accepted" ones. Since this would prove to be too challenging a task, it must be the former.

For me personally, I dislike the feeling of negative energy that comes from hatred. I like to put things I feel anger or hatred for into "apathy mode". This frees up all that energy that, religion in this case, takes up. Then I can utilize it for positive energy toward friends, family, my interests and goals.

People have lost the essence of religion which is to love God, the one Supreme Being (whatever name we call Him) and dedicate everything to His service. If intelligent people from all different religious backgrounds take to this essence of religion, there will be true peace and prosperity all over the world. Person who is truly religious is most kind, most loving, most tolerant and most well-wishing to everyone, to all living beings. Truly religious person is eager to establish the essence of religion everywhere, rather than establishing some external designations of some particular sect as the only truth.
Without religion, I mean, the true religion, love for God, there cannot be any peace or happiness for anybody, because in such situation everybody is selfish and my selfish interest will somewhere overlap with your selfish interest, and we will fight. However, if God is the center, we will both be happy working together for His interest.

Yes, Religion has caused more problems in this would than anything. If people could just live their lives to the fullest, be a good person and help people in need, without worrying about religion and God all the time this world would be in a much better place right now.

Isn't this like the only thing we have to fear is fear itself?
Pride is the source of intolerance, that pride being the belief that one's person or possessions or beliefs or ideology (political, religious, sociological, etc.) is essentially superior to all others. This sense of superiority fosters an unwillingness to examine other positions, regardless of their validity. For example, I may like math, and may like it to the extent that I believe it is the greatest thing in the world to work with mathematics. I believe this to the extent that I want all history, grammar, and art classes in public schools to be abolished in favor of more time being spent on math (God forbid such a thing, by the way, because I am terrible at math).
Control pride and you will eliminate intolerance.

Not only is religion a source of intolerance it is currently the source of a global war. We should begin to see religion for what it is: an irrational way to garner power over masses. Don't give them freedom if they are not going to give it to you.

Promote Secular Humanistic values in the schools. It all starts with early childhood education. Also by teaching the origin of all the worlds religions; let people decide for themselves.

No, just scientifically show why some of us need religion. And it's not because a supernatural exists.

Hatred of anything is not the answer. Negativity cannot produce positive results. Advancement of knowledge is the answer.
