I am at a complete loss on what to get for my husband's parents. They are both retired and go on trips a lot. We gave them a gift certificate through the travel agency for Christmas towards a trip, so I don't want to do that again. They have been married for 40 years, so they don't need anything for the house. I thought about a gift certificate for groceries; however, they aren't home much and eat out a lot. I want to get out of giving gift certificates. Any ideas?? I'm going shopping today.

1.)How about you sit them down and their house and make them a nice romantic dinner if you don't like that idea.....
2.) Buy a digital camera for them to take it with them on their trips.
3.)Since they eat out allot take them to a nice restaurant with you and your husband and every dress up.
4.) throw them a nice party...
I hope some of these tips help...good luck!

How old are you children? Our daughter is 8 months old and this year I'm thinking of giving them a plaster of paris mold of her hands and feet.
Also, you really couldn't go wrong with a nice framed picture of your children.
(Last year when I was pregnant, we gave them a nice card with one of the ultrasound picture of the baby. She is their third bio-granddaughter, and that was the first time they'd even heard about grandparent's day.)
Good luck!

I once saw that on a calender one time "grandparents day". But I'll tell you whats better than material things. Why not invite them over, bar-b-que, and enjoy time together! Buying gifts on other times other than birthday's and Christmas...you run out of idea's! Good luck on your holiday.

I'm just sending out a card with a picture in it.
I don't think Grandparent's day requires a gift.

We are making stepping stones for the grandparents this year. You can even press thier hands in the concrete. It's not expensive and it's something "made" Grandma's and Grandpa's love that kind of stuff.
You can buy whole kits for about $20.00. (concrete, mold, stones) at Michaels. or probably any other craft store.

you gotta know what is it that he uses most of the time.
gift certificate for groceries would be a great idea. with that, he can get what he needs most. and that eases you not to think a lot about what to get for him.
i had that one, too, last Christmas. not bad...

Can't go wrong with pictures. Especially of the grandkids, and then take them out for a nice dinner somewhere.

I did a collage of pictures of my family and friends that dated back from the time that my Mother-in-Law was in her 20's. She got such a kick out of seeing pictures of people that she had forgotten. Its easy, cheap, and everyone can get involved in.

A big picture of the grandkids is always a hit especially if they are wearing something that they bought them

take them mini travel..usually grandparents don't want gifts..they just want to spend time with people they love...cuz...time is all they have now...they are old and wise...and material stuff doesn't really mean anything.. but time is precious..and i think the best gift u can give is your time.
