Ok here's my problem but please don't make fun of it, I know some of you might think it's no big deal and I know there are bigger problems in life but my problem is my name
I am foreign(girl), my name is Assma , well on the passport it's written Asma because in french it will be pronounced Assma
Anyway..
Even when I SAY IT : "my name is aSSma" and insist on the letter s, people have embarassing reactions :( Some are themselves embarassed they're like "could you repeat that?" or " AzzMA" ? And that's what kills me it sooo sounds like aZZZZma you know the desease ..and (I know this is funny and stupid) even when I insist on the letter s or write it as ASSma instead of asma it sounds to me like ***..
Many people laugh out when they hear my name, this especially happens in school , the first days when teachers call out names.. I swear to my God I'd be shaking and nervous:(
What do you think of my name?
Should I change it(what can I change it to?)or learn to live wth it?

This is a fairly common situation with exchange students, immigrants, etc.: names which are commonplace or quite beautiful in the person's country or native language, but sound like slang terms in English.
The biggest question, to my mind, is what YOU want to do about it. Did you like your name before rather rude, immature people began reacting oddly to it? If so, one possibility is to keep it, but respond to people's odd reactions with a stone face, as though you don't "get" why they're laughing, etc. Another response (if you're feeling especially generous that day) is to smile politely and briefly with your mouth only, then revert to a serious expression.
Another possibility, if you wish to avoid this situation altogether, is to use your middle name or a nickname instead. "Oh, everyone has difficulty with that name; please call me XYZ instead." This is galling - why should you have to go by another name just because others are rude? However, it will help you avoid the situation.
It sounds like the problem is worst at school. I'm assuming you're in middle or high school and not university. If so, go talk to the school counselor or office staff; someone should know how you can get your name changed on the roll card.
The good news is that as you move forward in life into more advanced educational and work situations, people become more mature. This is especially the case in areas of the country which are ethnically diverse and many people have interesting names. In the area where I live, no one raises an eyebrow at names like "Anil" or "Dong".
Best of luck -

Carry your name proudly! It is one of the defenses you must make of your identity. The vast majority of people in this country lack the intelligence, preparedness, sensitivity and/or culture to grasp the beauty of the spoken and written word. Your name has etymology, cultural value and a beautiful timbre. It will take some discipline on your part; getting used to the taunting. Use that taunting, ignorance and insensitivity as a catalyst to impulse you to believe that your name is as special as you are!!! Good luck, Assma, in your search for self.

Keep your name be proud of it. Don't let other kids bother you. Yes it is an odd name - your best defense is to laugh along with them and politely correct the pronunciation.
If it really bothers you go by your middle name if you have one. You could say, My name is Assma but my friends call me "xxxxx"

You can change it formally through the courts, or informally by just giving yourself a nickname.
The sooner you change it the better. It's not expensive to do it through the courts, and if you do it before you graduate, your new name will be on your transcripts, which saves a lot of explaining when you are older.

in one way i might desire to declare she's youthful so which you may desire to nonetheless replace it. i could hate for the daughter to appreciate which you hate her call, and he or she gets insecure, and that i hate imagining which you decide on her extra, or have extra suited circumstances, if she had a various call. yet on the comparable time, save the call. it fairly is her call, on her start certificates, that she is time-honored with of now. additionally, i've got faith it rather is going to be a reminder and a rationalization so you might chat to your loved ones. until that did some thing so awful that each and each physique their friends do not communicate with them, or some thing like that (you realize what I mean), communicate with them. I constantly say to myself, stay on the brink of your loved ones, through fact you often have them, even whilst your individuals go away you. you like them, call your sister, communicate to your mom, artwork it out. Then, if it fairly is nonetheless awful, think of of a nickname, or if it fairly is THAT undesirable, replace the call, OR supply her yet another middle call, and phone her with the help of that. some human beings fairly do do this.
