Does mounting a speaker close to metal objects affect the speaker output?

The speakers are mounted in my SUV but the frame of the SUV is close to the permanent magnet of the speakers. It is a 4-way speaker sometimes the woofer part goes silent but the tweeters continue playing what causes this. They are 600W 6x9 speakers.

If the speaker magnet is touching metal it will effect it. Most cars have the speakers pretty close to the metal to fit them in , so closness is not the problem. Check the wiring at all points and if the speakers are new try them at another location, it could be the speaker itself.
