My 2-year-old son is in a Montessori two half-days a week. I think the reason he likes it is because it fits his personality. The activities are not strict or rigid, and there is a lot of unstructured but supervised playtime for his age group.
Do you know any other mothers in your area that use a different type of daycare/school situation? Could you "test drive" another school for a day or two and see how your son reacts? It could be that he's not happy with the unstructured nature of a Montessori school.
I really feel for you. I don't know what I would do if my son wasn't happy with his school. Good luck.

heres an idea give the kid a break it sounds as though you have had him in school since he could walk. now is this "school" or day care and if it is school what are you trying to create a baby einstien kids need to be kids they need to play and have fun and the reason your toddler doesnt like school is probably because its not fun and he fill's stifled he has 13 years of school ahead plus college its not a good thing that he is burnt out at 3 hes going to want to drop out by junior high. just scale back a bit cut down his days if you have to work find a more relaxed enviorment for him to be while you are gone. and see if there are new teachers around or someone your son is uncomforable with often if a child is activly resisting going to a daycare type setting its because someone there an adult or child is not treating him well.

The boy is 3 and a half. It's not unusual for little children not to like school.First of all,you have to be sure what actually bothers him. There might be a lot of things - maybe older children are getting at him or he doesn't like to sleep afternoon(if it's a kindergarten),he may also be bored or doesn't like some of the teachers. There may be alot of things and you should find out what actually is the problem.Don't blame or criticize the boy.He is only 3,too young to be "bad boy".So don't worry.Just be patient and talk to him about that.Tell him you need him to go to that school because there will be noone to look after him during day because you are working.Just explain him simple everything.Tell him you need your help and he will really help you if he goes to that school.Talk to him about his problems, what he is worried about.Good luck!

I'm not sure. Maybe he needs a break from school. He's already spent most of his life going to school and he's only 3 1/2. That might be the problem. If you work maybe you can find a day care that is less school-like or something.

Make him associate nice things with school. Give him a good memory of it by once in awhile doing something fun while taking him there. Reward him and, even if he is still very young, tell him you appreciate the effort he is doing.

If you have the opportunity - you should try to volunteer and talk up school. Most kids are influenced by what thier parents think and If you get along really well with his teachers and are excited then maybe he will be too

Wait until he's old enough to actually go to school.....
At 3 years old he should be spending time with you.

Our son didn't like one playgroup he went to. It was too loud. we moved him, and he loved the new one. May be worth trying?
