why not let people believe what they want if they want...i see so many humanists, atheists etc. evangelizing on here about their religion of non-belief...which is fine but what i don't get is why they feel the need to be exactly what they are bashing, i.e. evangelical christians. by far and away there are more evangelical atheists on this religion board than christians, wiccans, muslims etc. point being why do they feel the need to be the religion police why not live and let believe and they do the same?

personally i don't care what any of you believe and if you read the question you would understand that. my point is why would anyone want to police anyone else's religion its THEIRS not yours, let them believe what ever they want. all you who are spewing venom at christians for saying they are judgmental etc. are doing the exact same thing. want to really be non-judmental so far as religion...leave each other alone to believe what they want ! geez, ppl its not that difficult.

don't you ppl realize too it isn't religion(i'm speaking of all religions) that causes all the problems and wars its the extremists in all that are the problem, and if you look real close they are human beings who are capable of the most horrendous of things.

how would you know the christians are evangelizing on this board if atheists aren't here looking to confront them?

bottom line, aren't you confident enough in whatever belief you have that you can say...sure they believe that way but i don't? its really very simple but i think its more that some of you really like to argue whether its over this or anything else...why can't you just agree to disagree?

I feel when someone is being done wrong others should step in and help. If you were from an abusive home you would not know that it don't have to be that way. You think that being raped by your dad and brothers is the normal way of life in the world. It takes someone from the outside to step in to let you know you are being mis-guided to the point of being brainwashed. So many people have been brainwashed as children and really believe that the bible is the word of a real god. They need to know the truth about life.
This is why I am here because it is the only right thing to do.
Are you trying to keep the blind, well blind? It seems that you do not want people to have an open mind to the other beliefs in the world. Why don't you butt out and allow people only hear myside of the story? Because you believe in something and you feel you need to get the word out. I think or should say know your religion is fake and people need to know about it.

What religion police? The word police implies that we are forcing people to believe a certain thing. No one is being forced to accept a religion or atheism. We are only expressing our opinions through the freedom of speech. However, many haters of religion and haters of atheist would like to see free speech. The constitution guarantees freedom OF religion rather than freedom FROM religion. If one doesn't wish to hear a Christian's opinion that non-Christians are going to hell or one doesn't want to here the atheist opinion that religion is for uneducated people simply don't listen.

Because people in general like to think that they are right so whatever they believe they think that everybody else should believe too. If you don't believe what they do then obviously you must be wrong and they will try to correct you doesn't matter what religion or non religion they are.

I could live my life very well if others would just leave me alone. Unfortunately this is very much a global community with a wide variety of belief systems. So I guess everybody on here is fair game for religious testing...human sexuality and various and sundry issues.

Some people are taught by their religions that all other religions are wrong. This is especially true of atheists and secular humanists. They treat their non-belief so dogmatically that in practice, it is just another religion.
This country was founded by religious dissidents. Our Constitution protects us from government interference in religion, but some people just cannot let it be.

The question really should be why do some religious people insist on poilcing other peoples way in which they live their life. I can see your point here but lets face it the Christians community (or at least several menbers of it) do more policing than any other religion.

I say let people believe what they want. We can't force our beliefs on others and the problem I have is with people getting upset because others don't believe what they believe in.

People just have nothing else to do. These people are just as bad as any religious extremist in other parts of the world who would rather turn to violence than even try to have any kind of a rational discussion.
